Project Morpheus due first half of 2016 + Key changes

OLED display: In exchange for the 5 inch LCD, the new Morpheus VR headset is equipped with a 5.7 inch 1920 X RGB X 1080 resolution OLED display. This new screen expands the field of view and enables low persistence, removing motion blur.
120hz refresh rate: The previous refresh rate spec has been doubled for this new prototype, which means games for Morpheus can be rendered at 120fps. When combined with the OLED display's high refresh rate and the power of PS4, Morpheus is able to output amazingly smooth visuals.
Super low latency: We know how critical low latency is to delivering a great VR experience, and we've reduced latency to less than 18ms, about half of what the first Morpheus prototype had. Low latency is critical to deliver a sense of presence, at the same time making the VR experience comfortable to players.
More accurate tracking: To make positional tracking more precise, we've added three LEDs to the headset - one on the front and two on the side - for a total of nine LEDs to support robust 360 degree tracking.
User-friendly design: We've made the Morpheus VR headset easier to put on and take off, with a single band design and quick release button. The headband supports the weight of the unit on the top of your head, so there is no pressure on your face. Other components have also been adjusted and configured to make the headset lighter, so that players do not find the headset cumbersome or uncomfortable to use.

You can login to websites just fine and some apps. I don't have a list of what is supported and what isn't. They seem to have a real hardon for Hbogo.

This is the bullshit they say when anyone complains about it.

"With every new website, device or player we authenticate, we need to work through technical integration and customer service which takes time and resources. Moving forward, we will continue to prioritize as we partner with various players."
Suddenlink where I live is the same way. HBOGO is the only service that works here. The Cinemax and Showtime ones do not. Can't even fucking get those channels in HD.

That is awesome. Can't wait to buy this.

I want VR badly but they have to make sure its not going to make me feel nauseous every time I use it. If they get that fixed they will have a fist full of my dollars.

What good is a 120hz refresh rate when they can't get games to do 60fps now? The headset might be nice but being a PS4 product makes it pretty much gimped. That is unless you can some how hack it to work on a PC.

Even if Sony doesn't officially support PC for stuff like this, if it can in any way hook up to a PC, someone will figure out how to make drivers for it, or alter other VR drivers to work with it, something.

starting march 8th Best Buy will drop the MSRP of Gamers Club Unlocked to $30 (from $99) for 2 years. 20% off all games making new launch console games $48 instead of $60, worth it if you buy at least 5 games over 2 years and have a Best Buy near you

High refresh rates are not only useful when you have the FPS to match them. You need the fastest refresh rate you can get on these VR things because without it, you get motion blur which usually results in nausea.

IIRC for VR headsets you actually want a refresh of 2x the FPS in addition to what was said by Lenas (or maybe it's how he meant it) - because the refresh is basically done for one screen then the other and cycling back and forth between them, since if you just had each half of the screen refreshing together rather than toggling back and forth you'd get really strange tearing.

[Or something like that is the reasoning I got, it was a question I had for someone with one a ways back and that's the answer I got]

That makes sense, thank you. Does anyone know what the latency is on the Rift?

So is there anybody here that played FPS on the PC for decades and just *can't* adapt to playing them on the PS4 with a controller? I've forced myself to play some FPS's on the PS4, investing numerous hours, and I just can't shake the feeling that I'm constantly handicapped/gimped. Aiming with the thumbstick is madness inducing for me..
