Any of you regret their PS4?
I thought i would cash out for one sometime down the line once my student debts cleared out but has time goes on, the more it feels the generational jump wasnt big enough. Theres hardly any games taking the full advantage of 1080p / 60 fps, either by hardware limitations or devs taking the easy way out. Now a year later, i sure feel more inclined to invest in a normal pc that just dwarfs this generation consoles specs. Especially since most pcs now offer supperb tv support and a ton of steam games that offer the controler option to just sit back in the couch like you would with a console. The hype wore off.
if time and money are a factor imo PS4 is better if you enjoy AAA games, PC is better if you enjoy RPGs, older games (like 2-3 years behind everyone else) or indie games.
PS4 pros
- Bloodborne, Destiny Exclusive
- you can play GTA5 during the holidays, not 6 months later
- no time spent on drivers, config, etc
- you don't have to worry about online hackers, cheaters, whacky DRM (Hardline won't work if you swap GPUs), and a host of other things, you just play
- you can buy a game in store at launch, play 2-3 weeks, trade it in for most of what you paid and just keep doing this forever. Or rent from redbox/gamefly/etc. Cost of gaming can be very low per game.
PC pros
- exclusives like Wasteland 2, Homeworld Remastered, Pillars of Eternity, MMOs, and more indie/bundle games you could ever possibly play
- for FPS everyone is on an even playing field (kbm) - you will get your shit pushed in though if you try to game MP FPS with a controller on PC
- everything is digital (which can be bad if the game sucks and you have no way to return it)
I think it just comes down to whether you really, really, really like AAA 500-team games that are what everyone talks about, or you prefer smaller indie games that are more quirky but unique. If its the former you really have to play them on consoles, the PC ports tend to be messy fucked up things for a long time. If its the latter PC is by far and away the best choice, especially with stuff like humblebundle.com and indiegala.com
