PS Stream service blows but there are some decent games (100 or so I guess total) on there and at $20 for unlimited with a 7 day trial its not really that bad. Not for me but IMO these things should of been launched when the consoles first came out and there was virtually nothing to play for a year. They'd of had more value then than now.

Backward compatibility works as well as advertised, Super Meat Boy, Defense Grid, Geometry Wars and Zuma all appeared in my 'ready to install games' area and all play well. Games with Gold titles transferring too, friend said Viva Pinata appeared, that was the only reason he owned it digitally.

Generally agree with the 'often wanted but seldom used' desire of backward compatibility. I did that with my PS3 that's still sitting in the bedroom and the 5-6 PS2 games sitting in a drawer I never got around to playing on it. I have no desire to play last gen games, but when they're available digitally and fairly timeless due to art direction or fun factor (Super Meat Boy and Geometry Wars in particular) then they'll get played periodically for sure. Zuma I'll probably uninstall, just picked up the copycat that released last week.

My friend is still #1 in Geometry Wars, the bastard.

Plex works fine and plays everything right out of the box, but UMS still needs someone to make a new custom config for it because everything I try to play just times out.

Word is that PS4 has the same issue as Xbone and cannot play DTS encoded audio, which is a deal-breaker for me if true. Not sure if they mean the PS4 cannot decode DTS, which is understandable/fine, or if it cannot do passthru either, which is just shit-all stupid.

Edit: Got a working config from UMS forums, and it does indeed appear that you cannot do DTS passthru. Great, back to using Plex webpage/app.

Plea isn't nearly as stable as the new media player. Unless you are talking about the Plex premium app with a subscription fee. I have no experience with that.

My Plex sub is still active for a while longer so I use the app for most things. I've used the PS4 browser to stream movies though, and the only problem was with trying to stream extremely high bitrate movies without transcoding. I'm not sure why it starts to stutter or re-buffer occasionally, since I'm streaming over gigabit wired ethernet, not wifi. I haven't had any problems with the app needing to re-buffer.

I still don't like Plex though. UMS is a superior program in every way besides aesthetics. The biggest issue is that Plex's 'direct streaming' mode just isn't remotely close to being as good as plain old tsMuxer.

And unfortunately stability doesn't mean shit if you can't stream DTS.

Maybe it's Time Lord technology, bigger on the inside so they can fit two hard drives in a smaller space.

Been bothered by slow download speeds on the PSN for a while now. Did a little check and found out that you can try to manually change the internet settings, mainly the DNS parts. Apparently this is an old fix.

Google's DNS Address - Primary: 8.8.8.8 Secondary: 8.8.4.4

OpenDNS Address - Primary: 208.67.222.222 Secondary: 208.67.220.220
I did a manual setup. Automatic detection for all parts of the setup except DNS. Changed to the Google DNS one. Download of Batman went from 8 hours to 50 minutes.

That shit worked wonders.
