That's exaggeration, but not much:
Super Mario 3D World, which looks like Super Mario 3D Land, but with multiplayer. Sure it will be great, but not exciting.
Mario Kart, which looks like Mario Kart.
Retro's new game... is indeed Donkey Kong related. Too bad it's just another Donkey Kong Country Returns. If you somehow haven't become sick of retro 2d Nintendo-system platformers, yay?
Smash Brothers, which looks like Smash Brothers with more non-Nintendo characters.

I'm not sure Nintendo can even reasonably hope for Gamecube survival level.

Except they're not selling well. The 3ds is down yoy in sales worldwide, must likely due to the ever increasing popularity of iOS and android gaming, and the Wii U is not selling anywhere.

Nintendo needed something really special for this Nintendo direct, and they had nothing. They failed to deliver big time.

Anyways, i don't really want to buy a console, but i'm half-tempted to get a PS4. Just to support Sony who seems to have come to its senses, and realised this whole buisness is actually about videogames and not a facebook-angrybirds-TV-platform thing.

I dunno about that. The DS was the best device of last generation. Sadly it looks like the 3DS will not be able to remake that magic.
