That's the only saving grace for Nintendo. New Smash Bros, Zelda, Metroid, etc. will bring people to buying the game. I can see a Christmas purchase in the future for our family now with the game lineup though our son does have a 3DS and he may stick with that seeing most of the games are coming out for it but, you lose the multiplayer fun.

Pretty much expected this when they did not say exclusive when discussing it yesterday.
The housewives and the casual gamers have moved on. They ditched their Wiis years ago and started playing casual games on their smartphones and tablets instead. A small percentage of them will buy in on the Wii U, but not enough to matter. The Gamecube proved that a Nintendo console will not sell well purely on the strength of Nintendo IPs - why do people think things will be different with the Wii U?
I honestly don't know anyone who still plays their Wii. It seems like they had a ton of buzz and everyone wanted to invite me over to play Wii Bowling but even when I go to the house of someone who always forced me to play their Wii I don't even see it in their entertainment center anymore. I wonder if that means they'll realize they just don't want/need a console or if they'll buy the next one to chase that dragon again. So far it appears to be the previous. Like my parents. Bought a Wii because everyone was playing Wii Sports. I don't think it has been turned on for years and they don't even know the Wii U exists.

No, at least not on PS3. Playstation+ gives you access to over 15 full free games that are cycled out weekly with new games. You can keep/play those games as long as your account is active(even if you've canceled and reactivated). It also gives you access to betas, early demos, etc that non-paying PSN users don't get. I'm not sure on the details of Gold these days, as I haven't had an Xbox gold account in years.
Yup! The people that made the Wii the financial success that it was has moved on to the tablets and smartphones. I have tried for years to get my 9 year old into various Nintendo IP's. Zelda, Mario, Smash, Mario Kart... He would play them for a few days at the most then back to Minecraft and CoD with all of his little friends.

I bought a Wii for my kid sister and she actually played it for a while. However shes now 16 and into cars and loves NFS games and Forza. I bought a Wii-U in expectations my younger cousins would like it but all they did is ask "Why did you get that?". I let it sit around for a couple weeks, we played ZombieU a bit, which i actually enjoyed. However after a few days it was never touched again so i sent it away.
I use my ipads more than my laptop and my desktop more than my consoles(for now). Wii-U just has no place in my household, i know their are those who absolutely love Nintendo 1st party games and thats great. I just think its dumb how defensive these people get when you dont agree with their love for it tho.

XBone's preorder page states it only will work in "approved nations" - and Japan isn't on the approved nations list. So pretty sure it's going to be 100/0.
Also for the EU some countries like Poland (which is pretty huge on EU gaming from my understanding, them and Sweden) aren't on there either - so EU will likely be an even larger rout than that.
And we'll see on the US - US consumers are largely stupid unfortunately.

I am too. Sadly though it looks like people are giving Sony a free pass on stuff that they would shit all over MS for. Hope having only one real viable next gen console doesn't bite us all in the ass.

If you are thinking of getting a PS3 you may wanna wait until Sept 17th for the GTA5 version, since its a pretty good deal - 500gb PS3 plus GTA5 plus 30 day PS+

Dunno - with the lose publishing restrictions on PS1 games I seem to recall there being just shitloads of PS1 games just an absolute avalanche of games - PS2 they may have dominated for sales on consoles/game quantity sold - but for game variety available I'm pretty sure PS1 had a much wider range of titles - there was just sooooo many.

You need PS+ for multiplayer. The squareenix event was misleading on purpose. People here were fapping as if those two titles were PS4 only. Remember the outrage when it was posted that MS was paying developers not to mention the game was coming out for PS4? Sony pulled the same shit.
Sony was very vague on the DRM shit until the outrage over Xbone. They then made the plans super clear where it wasn't before.
I guess I just don't understand the fanboy shit for consoles. I did that crap when I was like 10 talking shit to friends.
