Great we can purchase all our games AGAIN for the third time. Nintendo needs a new way of thinking. They need to stop this type of crap. They'd get some credit if they let people who already own both consoles redownload the games for free. I'm not paying them again for shit I already bought.Fucking awesome:DS Games Are Coming To the Wii Us Virtual Console
Kalypso Media have announced that the next entry in the popular city builder series,Tropico 5 will see a release on the PlayStation 4, besides the Windows, MAC, Linux and Xbox 360 versionswhich were announced last year.
"We are delighted to be able to work with Sony to bring Tropico 5 to PlayStation 4 and enter the next generation market." said Andrew Johnson, Managing Director of Kalypso Media UK. "The PlayStation 4 version of Tropico 5 will expand the Tropico brand to the new generation hardware and to a new generation of gamers."
Stefan Marcinek, Global Managing Director, Kalypso Media revealed that they will be using the console's full capabilities.
'
We have been evaluating many new and exciting development opportunities for the Tropico brand and by bringing Tropico 5 to PlayStation 4 we open a new chapter in the history of the game. By taking full advantage of the PlayStation 4's processing power the island of Tropico and El Presidente have never looked better.'
Yep, great for people like us. I've been eyeing a WiiU for awhile now and this could push me to purchase one. That's a good point but as someone who doesn't own a DS, it's good news because that means I can buy a Wii U which is almost as cheap anyway and get both the Wii U games and the DS games, and on top of that I get to play them on my TV, so win win. Once Sony does their playstation now thing or whatever it is I'll probably grab that too.
Well not really. The 3DS is a handheld for one. Second buying a Wii U also opens the Wii U library, which while not particularily interesting, could be in the future. There's no point in me getting the console that can only play its own games vs the console that can play its own and the other's. Granted we don't know WHEN this is coming so might end up buying a 3DSXL before that but still. If you're convinced on buying a WiiU for DS games, you should probably just get a 3DSXL.
WiiU is poop, 3DS is glorious.
DeSmuME solved this problem for me years ago. Currently, it emulates just about every DS game worth playing near-perfectly. From what I've heard the 3DS doesn't even display DS games very well because of scaling issues, so it wouldn't surprise me if the WiiU emulator also failed at implementing simple texture filters (because all the common algorithms are GPL'ed and they'd have to write their own). That's a good point but as someone who doesn't own a DS, it's good news because that means I can buy a Wii U which is almost as cheap anyway and get both the Wii U games and the DS games, and on top of that I get to play them on my TV, so win win.
Right it's my bad, misread the announcement, thought it was 3DS stuff. That is then fairly pointless, I can play DS games on an emulator so don't really care. Got excited for nothing, oh well. You could debate it either way really. Its great to have the option but you also need to keep in mind that theres no mention of 3DS games being released on it, and until theres a couple AAA game announcements that will be coming to the VC... it's pretty meh imo.
Then again, I already have any of the old DS games i've ever wanted to play so there is bias in my opinion lol.
