PRODUCTS:METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES

Straight from the mouth of Kojima, MGS5 comparisons.

PS4: 1080p, 60 fps
Xbone: 720p, 60 fps
X360: 720p, 30 fps
PS3, 720p, 30 fps

Thanks for not pulling punches and not bullshitting us like other developers, Konami.
Nextgen but barely different from last gen. Awesome.

[Technically the scaling difference should be a big deal against old gen, no? And no word on the textures is there?]

KZ textures are amazing, but I'll be honest; I had more fun in the hour or two I put into Titanfall, than I had in Killzone.

yeah killzone was a shitty game and metal gear solid looks like a shitty game so who gives a fuck about either. respawn's gotta be super pissed about titanfall not being available on ps3/ps4, it seems insane since it'd probably sell 3m+ copies on those two platforms so how did Microsoft even get it as an exclusive? Its hard to imagine them paying EA $150m for it, what else could they possibly offer?

its too bad really, titanfall woulda been fun on a vita remote. gotta start keeping an eye out for infamous 2 sale now

My only complaint with KZ was a lack of different enemies, the actual gameplay was good and graphics were top notch. Story was short but engaging. Not sure what people expected

Yeah Kill zone suffered from some bad parts of missions in between mediocre to ok but it was hardly awful like some claim. Ended on a really good note but was mediocre.

Good graphics
Combat was ok
Performance in the campaign was good
Story mediocre
Some bad parts to missions and shit that didn't make sense
I didn't care for the multiplayer

Still ok though.

Even Polygon turning on their masters.

"I watched the Super Bowl with friends this year. At the beginning of the game, during a big play, we jumped to our feet. Kinect mistook this for a hand gesture, loading the gesture overlay over the football game. In a rush to get the overlay to disappear, I accidentally paused the television," Polygon's Chris Plante told me. He had to stop eating in front of the television, because the Kinect would bring up the gesture overlay every time he raised the fork.

"Every day I hear the following: 'Xbox, watch TV. Xbox, WATCH TV. Oh, screw you, Xbox," Justin McElroy wrote.
Microsoft needs to admit the Xbox One Kinect is a peripheral, not a pack-in | Polygon

Kinect could've been left out for probably at least a year. One day the game that makes Kinect worth it will come out and then everyone will be pissed they have to buy a 100 dollar Kinect for their 400 dollar XB1.

I don't think that game will ever exist for the masses. For small parties, Kinect or PS eye are still very popular.
Women love those fucking dance games.

Both Sony ,and MS have to realize the core of there audience is 18-45 year old men that don't want to move off there fucking couch when the play videogames. Voice commands are bothersome, and slower then just inputting it on your controller..
That's why those things have been failing ever since the power glove on the super nintendo.

The next big step will be moving off the Display, that is some ancient ass shit. They need to get the virtual reality headsets to not make people sick, and as soon as that happens it we will see a sizeable step up on how we interact with videogames.
At that point the cameras on the PS eye or the Kinect will become important.

The flip side is streaming is starting to gain steam, so I can see any future console with a mandatory camera attached in the next decade..

Not really, you bundled it with the "killer app" game for like $120 and call it a day saying it's a $160 value or whatever. Maybe even throw in one of the crappy early titles no one cares much about but with a big name on it (like the Disney Fantasia one) to claim a $200+ value.

Bundling and hardware are a wondrous thing. (As the extra XBOne's that started showing up demonstrated - and basically ALL the second/third wave PS4's showed - bundles sell extra shit to people)

Btw - lol all of you idiots who said there would be parity between the consoles. It's hilarious how utterly wrong you were.

Be careful saying that too strongly though, you know it's going to narrow in time as both make gains and PS4 has less room to grow (since 4k clearly ain't gonna happen) - in the longrun there will be something close to parity (I used to say that more absolutely before we saw how large this early rift is though) but absolutely not until late in this generation.

Haha, yeah, every time i cross my legs when barefoot or take a drink from a tumbler that shit does something bad. It's annoying as hell that you can't just turn off the gesture part and keep the voice commands and face recognition, the only setting is all on or all off. It's nice being able to say "ammo" or "medic" in BF4 and have the little notification pop up for other players, but not worth dealing with the other shit.

No, it's not going to narrow. The PS4 has more room to grow. Do you not fucking read anything about the specs and engineering at all? The PS4 will be able to gain a lot of ground with GPGPU Compute and is built to do that. The Xbone pretty much cannot do that shit at all.

Yes and no - it'll be for minutiae that largely will go unnoticed though. The biggest deal right now are the FPS and resolution limitations of the XBOne - hell, look at how many people can't notice the difference between 1080p and 792p in the Titanfall thread right now as it is. Which the PS4 is almost entirely capped on with only a few games under 60 FPS and nothing that isn't 1080p yet I believe. Any of the most noticeable means to grow it's already capped on for current TVs and such - chasing 61+ FPS ain't gonna happen because most TVs can't display it nor will 1081p+, only better lighting/smoke/shadows/AA/textures that apparently tons of people won't even notice since drastic differences like Titanfall are considered minor to so many.

I'm sure it will grow from a technical aspect, but it's gonna be secondary benefits not the big two of FPS and resolution. Those are going to narrow absolutely.

Besides lens of truth type stuff I'm sure 90% of people won't be able to tell the difference between the two in five years or so. Not that XBOne is a good investment from how anything looks - but from the looks of everything it's going to progress somewhat like 360/PS3 except I don't think the initial loser will pull ahead by a few % in the end of the generation - I expect XBOne to go from a 25% deficit to a 10-15% deficit or so at the end of the generation. [Note: Hypothetical % down for the moment - just a rough number - no clue what the raw difference between 1080p vs. 720p is offhand scale the 10-15% as appropriate - I expect half or so of the gap to close]

You're vastly overestimating how much room the Xbone has to grow, Vaclav. The ESRAM and the super weak GPU and only having 12 ROPS is a huge handicap and as engines get more and more demanding like they did over the last generation it's not going to magically be able to pull power of its ass to be able to handle high resolutions and framerates. The PS4 is going to have to pull more and more power just to hit 1080p and 30/60 with more and more demanding games and the Xbone will not be able to keep up. Games kept looking better and better last generation and it wasn't because of Resolution or FPS increases dude.

You're just plain wrong and you will continue to be wrong.
