I was thinking we could have a big thread to discuss Games Industry fuck ups, stupid decisions, foolish moves and their fallout. Not limited to MMOs and not limited to a specific game's failings. A general "what the FUCK are they thinking" kind of thread, like Politics in General.

My buddy at work, which is an avid gamer, brought up a good point today. He basically said that I think the industry as a whole will be surprised when the next generation of consoles does not do well at all. Because, see above.

The gaming industry isn't moved by the "avid gamer" types. It is moved forward by the people who buy the latest COD by the millions. Since that group of people will still exist as long as the consoles are reasonably priced they'll still sell and "modern gaming" will continue as we know it.

Yeah, the best we can hope for is that games like Deus Ex, Dishonored, Mark of the Ninja, Bastion and so on will still have their market.

That chart doesn't include digital distribution, right ? Anyway, as long as there are people who want to make those games and the market makes it possible, it will be fine.

How exactly do we measure a "ton" here? There's always going to be games that makes "tons" of money.

But this is a pretty good "satisfaction" poll. It had "tons" of votes.

I measure ton by a thousand. Or two thousand. I forget which one.


Also by 'enough that I can have a good year of gaming'. If 2012 wasn't a good year of gaming for you, then you're a depressing individual.
