didn't expect the entire episode to be mando but it definitely following the outline of this show so far.
First introduction of the show was post credits(?) scene after mando season 2, boba and fennec kill bib fortuna and take over Jabba's throne room. That set the premise for the show.
Each episode of the actual show has been "few minutes checking in on what boba's doing current timeline" + majority of the episode being flashback sequence filling the 5 year gap between him falling in the sarlaac and him killing bib fortuna. They also introduce an ally or faction that he's adding to his team for the eventual fight vs the big bad for the shows conclusion. Fennec, Tuskens, pet rancor, Gladiator wookie dude, power ranger cyborg kids, syndicate families, etc
As the flashbacks get closer and closer to current timeline each episode spends more time on current timeline and less time on flash backs. They also spend more time developing the allies he's making.
Only exceptions so far is they killed his adopted tusken tribesman in a later episode (to give him motivation for revenge? character development, whatever) and they didn't start this last episode checking in on "whats boba doing today" before focusing on Mando.
They needed more time for Mando, not to develop him as a character (he has his own show and already is connected to boba) but because they had to explain what happened to mando after season 2 and why he would be free just chilling on tatooine to be available to help boba.
Last we saw him he completed his quest to find a jedi for grogu (so he should have returned to his cult and chilling with them), acquired the dark saber, and lost his space ship. It would of been weird as fuck if he just randomly appeared to help boba for the final episode without explaining any of that first.
Also think he'll end up being around tatooine so he can run in to a Obi Wan in his show, who will teach him to control his emotions better so he can actually wield dark saber.
