Oh it was totally heavy handed, and completely low effort. And went from, as you said, subtle commentary on pretty much every advanced society that has ever existed to herp derp America.
It wasn't subtle at any point, you are just far too dumb to see what's plainly obvious.

I havent gone back and watched the first head popping episode yet, but I'm struggling to find a single (known, revealed to the viewer) common thread between them.

Was there a single person present at both events? I can't think of one.

The second event was televised so you could argue targeting via TV, but the first one wasnt televised, it was like a back alley meeting or something, wasnt it?

The head popping in this episode definitely looked like Cindy's power. In the Shady Grove episode at one point you see her stare at the camera, like she can "see" The Boys in the security room looking at her, so maybe she can head pop through any form of video.

Its all a good mystery, there are a number of suspects with the motive and placement and ability, hopefully they show us in the finale with maybe a flashback to the first CIA boss headpop scene.

The "SJW cuck" stuff at the beginning was pretty cringe but the pornos were funny as hell. Deep checking his head at the end really had me dying laughing.

Head popping was a metaphor for November 3rd 2020 when Trump wins reelection.

i think we'll learn more about who the head popper is by looking at who DIDN'T get head popped. during the first incident, like 4 or 5 people were targets but only raynor got popped (jennifer espisito) the other options were the boys, who were fugitives at that point. it sort of begs the argument that if the head popper was working for vought and knew enough to stop raynor from spilling the beans, then they'd also want to target any or all of the boys.

during the court scene, victoria neuman (the lady who was heading the whole court case against vought) survived. if vought was silencing the opposition, which it clearly LOOKS like, why didn't she get her head popped? in fact, she's been publicly shaming vought for quite some time, so why not pop her head way before it even WENT to court?

i THINK a-train's replacement was the only supe who got their head popped as well? i'm wondering if the church doesn't want to destroy vought, but DOES want to sow enough choas that it allows the church to make a power-grab of some sort.

also i don't think it's cindy because she didn't head pop that security guard, she body popped him. there wasn't any sense of finesse (for lack of a less disturbing term) from her.

i rewatched the finale scene and something interesting, congresswoman victoria aka AOC looks at each person right before their head pops

The head popper could just be someone else like Butcher. They just wanna see all Supes suffer....only a couple of those in the show left.

Maybe the head popper only needs to be able to see the target (video feed sufficient) and was popping them all while watching it on the TV broadcast

Well, you remember when they showed Stormfront going into Sage Grove, to see if that dude had any superpowers?

Well, I imagine that Cindi is something like that, except she just turned into a cold psychopathic killer. Now imagine that she was there watching Raynor on video camera, while Stormfront is there goading her on. Now, as to the other head poppings, that was on C-SPAN. If you have a cable hookup, you could do it. As to why specific people were chosen? I'd imagine that the chairman of the committee was first to go because he was speaking at the time. Vogelbaum was second to go, because then the camera panned to him. I would also say that Cindi saw him as one the doctors who treated her, and she was pissed. Once you get a psycho riled up, who knows what's gonna bring them down? With Raynor, Cindi didn't know her, nor did she even care.

It was whomever the camera turned on that got their head popped.

Head popper being from the Church, as an explanation for why The Boys themselves didn't get popped in Episode 1, is imo the best explanation so far, good thinking j00t

I'm also thinking that Homelander, Stormfront, and Cindi are three different views on America.

Homelander : 13 yo boy, obsessed with fame.

Stormfront : A nazi.

Cindi : Cold psycho.

EDIT : I'm not stating that any of them are correct, mind you. I'm just stating that people view America in this light.

Im thinking the Senator lady might be the suspect too.
will need to go check her scenes again.

She'd be in touch with the CIA lady, and thus been able keep track of, then pop her head, when she got too close. Not killing the Boys at that point is still hard to argue.

was in the courtroom, with perfect vantage point for all the killing. Stormfront and her "opposition" working both sides seems pretty perfect.
with the chief dead, is she going to step into that roll?

Cindi is out. we could argue she was trained to kill the CIA lady. But she should be in the wind atm. and that hit in the court was way too precise. Even we argued some kind of Manchurian candidate, where she was programed to kill some targets, and did so via tv.. not the randos there.

They key word in my post was left. How this is not obvious during the last episode, and all the "hip" references going on boggles my mind.

I agree that the Church dude is a big suspect. The A-Train replacement dude getting gibbed was a decent clue, especially after he told A-Train and the Deep he was going to get them both back in The Seven. Of course, the big question is why is he protecting Vought? Is it because he wants to conquer Vought, not destroy it? Keeping The Boys alive, a bunch of wanted criminals, makes sense. Like Stormfront said in the episode, having an enemy for the base to rally against is useful. Plus you can place blame on them. A super hero getting killed, along with other people, makes it easier to pin on them as scapegoats.

AOC senator seemed legit freaked out, so I don't think it was her.

None of the people actually present for the event make sense to me as the headpopper. Plus using that power in front of homelander (presume he's immune to it?) would be a massive risk if he weren't in on it. All the evidence points to someone off site. I think we're supposed to believe it's church guy, and explains all the stupid church stuff this season, but I really don't like that explanation after episode 1.

Now, If I saw that shit go down IRL i'd be working with the assumption that some sort of visual contact is needed in order for the head to popped until proven otherwise. If there aren't people/news reporters with like full jack in the box type head coverings next episode I'm gonna be real disappointed.
