Nah when there's more women than men, that's when the men get to get real picky.

They say my university is 50/50 males females. I'll buy that when I see the data. I see well over 70% women in my classes and I'm spread across the university pretty broadly. Even chemistry classes are mainly female.

Enrollment numbers are freely available to us. Is that different in the states / your uni?

The women here are already picking blue collar men in increasing numbers, in essence choosing us for different reasons than income. Oh, the humanity.

the campaign set by school is designed towards women, predicated upon an idea that women are being treated as some kind of dumb whores who don't know any better. That's fucking bullshit. data tells me that it's bullshit. even the very example set by the article aka disney is bullshit. most divorces are initiated by women. more women are in school. more women read, excel in grades, and hold more degrees. idea that women are not independent agency and are victims of the society is fucking bullshit. This campaign, in sum, is bullshit.

If this campaign was gender blind that was set on a better principle, you wouldn't see me raging. It is not gender blind. it is based on wrong principle with zero compassion towards women and men, they encourage wrong behaviour for wrong reasons.

If you don't think that young girls are pushed towards "princess" type shit, then we are just going to have to disagree on this. It is a constant thing, from barbie dolls, to the "damsel in distress" in movies, to diamond rings and "every kiss begins at Kay". That campaign directly runs counter to all that bullshit and is awesome.

So weird. The Disney movie, Wreck-it Ralph is SO much better then Brave, the Disney/Pixar movie.

Directors of both had few credits. mostly TV stuff.

Stories seem to have polar opposite messages.

Brave. Female lead doesn't like her fate, mostly because she isn't getting her way.. she is a horrible person. She was in fact totally ok with her "fate" when it involved a male she thought was attractive.
Runs away, ruins everyones lives. and in the after having to come to terms with the fact everyone is on the brink of war, and facing her mistakes. She decides to do as she pleases, in complete contradiction to everything that has happened and not care what anyone else thinks. everyone is inexplicable ok with this, despite her having done nothing to actually change anyones mind.

Ralph. Male lead doesn't like his fate, because everyone is a dick to him all the time. He is a nice guy, but completely denied any justice. He runs away, which causes real problems for everyone else around him. He faces his problems, makes friends, and realizes that he can't change his fate. But he can make the best of it, and as long as he has friends, thats ok.

There's nothing wrong with encouraging girls to read a book. There's nothing wrong with encouraging girls to practice ballet or the violin.

Forcing them to do those things is where it can get tricky. Sometimes you have to be able to admit that your daughter is just not athletic or that she's just dumb.

It's a lot easier to admit these things about boys.

I think it's a trick and takes multiple perspective. Women can use princess stereotype as an advantage and use it to use men to do their bidding and men become disposable to her. If we take that privilege away, now we change the equation of empowerment.
