I don't think anyone is saying he didn't do it. The main argument is in a court of law did the prosecution have enough to warrant 1st degree? Clearly the jury thought they did.
Listening to the juror interviews, they actually used a ton of common sense on their decision. They knew they were working with a ton of circumstantial evidence, and put two and two together. They used their individual smarts instead of the collective stupidity.
Simmons doesn't bother me because he is up front about it. King makes me want to kick puppies though, and the sentiments holds pretty much universally otherwise.
