Yeah, at this point its ego driving the dumb. Brady and co. have been getting away with pushing the envelop for so long (and seriously, spygate should have had much more severe consequences) that they honestly can't fathom not getting away with a minor infraction like this. "Fuck you, I don't have to accept your fine because I am Tom Fucking Brady" has driven them to the point where they are now. Anyone else would have just eaten the fine, apologized, and been on with their life by now. He could have been the dude who got pinched going 5 over the speed limit, but instead he is the entitled dick who thinks he is above the law.

Also, why the fuck do the Boston homers even care? They have demonstrably shown that all they remotely give a shit about is the W when it comes to football. Why would any of this even remotely bother them? Its not like the Pats aren't just going to cruise control to the 1 seed in that cake division again.

0-4 start (only truly easy looking game is Jax, but I'm pulling for them) and then probably 0-5 after the Colts take their revenge.

All three other teams did enough to either stay the course or improve over last year, at least in some way. It's still NE's division to lose but I like both Buffalo's and Miami's chances at putting a dent in things.

Really? I'd say its possible the Jets might even do worse than last year. Buffalo and Miami can definitely take some games though.

Hopefully Kraft gets the other owners to push Goodell out. Cannot stand that guy and his wishy washy policy of whim.

What's going to be great is when Brady drags it to court and his suspension gets upheld. Then he will have to serve those 4 games at the end of the year, possibly the playoffs.

I thought it was other owners that were pressuring him to keep the suspension in place? Who knows anymore though

Well they've got to make a decision as a group whether the integrity of the game matters. I hope they decide it does, because if the NFL becomes the WWF, I will finally turn it off. I don't give a shit about wife beaters, murderers, dog killers, rapists or child abusers. But they better make me believe they're trying to maintain integrity.

Jets are a maybe on that. That's why I specifically said "stay the course", it's entirely possible that they don't do worse even with Geno at the helm. There's definitely 4 winnable games in their schedule, especially since they face Jacksonville and Washington this year. Plus the Browns, Oakland, and the Titans.

NFL offered Brady reduction in exchange for admission of guilt | ProFootballTalk

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL was willing to drop the suspension by "at least 50 percent" if Brady: (1) admitted to having knowledge of whatever John Jastremski and Jim McNally were doing to the footballs; (2) admitted to failing to cooperate with the Ted Wells investigation; and (3) apologized.

It's believed that Brady's suspension would have been dropped at least to two games, with the possibility of dropping it to one if he were sufficiently persuasive and profuse in his acceptance of guilt.
Fucking over his team to preserve his personal glory in the record books. What a weasel.

Guilty, but doesn't want the public to know once and for all he is dirty. So potentially fuck the whole team for a month instead, anything to protect my reputation!

It will be hard to do worse, but its equally hard to see them being competitive against NE.

The Jets are probably going to have the best defense in the AFC East, if not the whole AFC. That division is going to be interesting to watch. I just might not be the shit show we're used to seeing.

Wait, the AFC East isn't going to be 12-4 Patriots, 8-8 Miami and 2 really shitty losing teams like almost every year this year? Sweet. Also it seems if anything they should have increased the suspension to indefinite.

This is an opinion I can endorse.
