Last year they underachieved (largely due to injuries) and went 8-8. Of course we don't know what the new team will be because we have never seen them play together or under this coach, but I think they would be overachieving to go 8-8 next year based on the fact that they lost a good percentage of their star players during the off season. All that's really left for "name" players is
Kaepernick (he is what he is)
Bowman (if he is what he used to be)
Davis (who sucked last year but has been good in the past)
Aldon Smith (if he can play a full season without getting suspended)
Anquan Boldin (who's getting really old)
and Eric Reid
I have high hopes for Carlos Hyde and Bruce Ellington, but they haven't really showed enough to call them stars yet. I'm not with people that think that we're going to be in contention for the first pick in the draft unless Tomsula just doesn't know what he's doing, but we have had a terrible off-season, maybe one of the worst ever, and the Cardinals and Rams have gotten better in the off-season, at least on paper. Seattle is probably worse, but not as much worse as we are. In the past it's been pretty reliable that either Arizona or St. Louis will shit the bed, but on paper we look like 4th in the division right now. I would love to be proven wrong.

I can't say I know the 9ers team head to toe but I'd think 6 wins is probably a realistic expectation. They won't be picking first but picking top 10 is a real possibility.

They drafted some good players last year that will be starters and I think they drafted well this year as well which is why I don't think that they will be in the bottom of the league but there are a lot of question marks to say the least.
