Welp I passed the event horizon on flavor chasing. I bought a 2 batt 160 VW/VV Kanger Squonk box.
put a Pulse 24 bottom feed RDA on it.
dropped in a pair of nichrome fused claptons

And vaped it for 4-5 days. It made such hyper saturated clouds, I blew all the taste buds out of my head.
I flew too close to the sun and had to dial the habit back down to a less hot rod rig. If I wanted to run that setup I would have to drop all the flavor percentages in my mixes, it was just too much of a good thing.

For anyone still mixing your own juice you might wanna try switching from the old freebase nicotine to the newer nicotine salts. I have bought some from Nicotine River, good stuff, way less taste, less peppery in higher strengths, WAY less throat hit, crosses into your bloodstream faster, gives you that old drag off a cig feel IMO. supposedly more stable chemically and doesnt degrade as quickly. All the big juice companies are switching to it.

Lotta people have been raving about the Drag Mods, they say they have zero ramp-time / firing delay and super accurate chips, comparable to spendy high end $150+ boxes. I got one shipped for $45. Been playing with it for an hr. So far the hype is legit, seems like I can hit it harder and longer without torching my wicks. It's solid and well made, but boxy and inelegant in feel. The PC software is legit, you can build custom firing / temp curves, something I have zero need of.

Yea, I've heard very good things about those boxes, and all my local stores carry them. They've been the new hot, affordable, mod.
My alien finally broke, but I didn't get one of the Drags because the only designs my buddy's store had, was one I didn't like. Instead, I got the Smoant Charon, black leather/silver version.
This one is another super hot mod right now, especially among the 'savvy' vapers that know about them. Smoant is kind of a hipster/worst kept secret brand right now among the vaping community. Not in a bunch of stores just yet, but have had some amazing products. Especially the battlestar and charon, avoid the Rabox, though. Kinda like Sigelei was 2 years ago. It looks similar to the Findar and Therion, two gorgeous mods, but costs a 1/3rd of the price. Especially here Smoant Charon 218w Tc Best Deals + Online Shopping | GearBest.com for under $40.
Chipset is solid, fires quicker then anything else I've vaped, but it doesn't have a ton of options. It does temp control and all that, but no firing curves or crazy customization like the DNA chipsets. However, if you want a mod that looks amazing (imo), does high wattage and don't want to spend $100+, you really can't go wrong with this one.
My ONLY two gripes so far, is 1) It has a lock for the wattage, but not for the fire button. So, it fires in my pocket sometimes if I'm not careful.
and 2) 3 weeks in and the edges of the leather near the curve are sticking up a bit. I noticed it early on and have been trying to push them down to keep it from peeling up and I probably made it worse, honestly, by wearing out the adhesive underneath. I'm afraid in 3 months it'll be a problem and I'll have to replace the leather sticker. We'll see.. Might just be able to put a spot of super glue or something there to keep them down.

I am a fan of Smoant, my daily driver was a Battle Star up until today. Excellent form factor, very affordable. The chip wasnt fancy. And wasnt super accurate. No real problems with it. I wish I could put the chip from the Drag into the Battlestar body. It would be 2 battery perfection.

I checked out the rabox at a local store. It looks really cool, but it is not comfortable to hold and the build quality suuuuucked. It rattled when you shook it slightly, from loose pieces not being fully tightened. Couldn't believe the same company made it and my charon. The charon is super solid. Nothing is loose, it's got a good weight to it and very solid overall. I haven't handled a battlestar personally, but seen nothing but good things from everyone about them.

Rumors going there is supposed to be a big wave of squonk boxes inbound. I need somebody to make a good 2 battery at a reasonable price point. The low end stuff has been crap, and the there is no middle range. Top end boxes are coming in at $150. Fuck that noise.

Yea, Smoant posted some pics of their next mod on reddit, asking for naming suggestions. But, in the comments lots of people were asking them for a squonk. They replied it was the next thing on their agenda after that one.
Squonk boxes are what a lot of drippers are switching to, and the companies took a bit to notice. So, there is gonna be a big reaction and tons of releases in the next year I'd imagine.

Welp the Drag Box was a bust. The chip went all retarded 3 days ago, I put a warranty claim in and have a RMA to send back. But all in all the box was over rated, zero - lag firing isnt a feature that is needed or impressive beyond the first couple days.

while that sucks, it kinda cracks me up to hear. I was arguing with people on reddit about how the bigger a company gets, the more people you hear complaining about their products. It was in reference to smok, and they were all touting the Drag as being much higher quality. I made a bet that once it got bigger, you'd hear plenty of people saying their boxes broke.
