5. There's a ton of great parts about the game, the graphics, sound, character design, voice work etc. But the game just suffers from some huge design flaws and had too many bugs to be released.
I agree with Tuco. I'm more patient, though. I'll give it a few more big patches to see the direction. I really wanna see the Imperial City update.

They rushed it out knowing wildstar was a quality product and they would have barely sold if they released after Wildstar.

Galway jobs blow with 300 gone at online gaming firm

One employee told this newspaper that he was hired in March with around 200 other workers on six month contracts, but has now been let go.

"In April, the company said it wanted 200 more workers. They went through a week of training, worked for two weeks and were let go. These would have been people taken in on two to six-week contracts.

"Four weeks ago, another 50 were let go, and over the last few days, another 20 or 30.

"It's a disgrace how workers were treated. If they showed up at 10.30pm for the night shift, they were being told to go home at 11pm, that their jobs were gone," he said.
Dammit Tuco.

When Zenimax had you in for the big meet, you weresupposedto tell them to 'Get rid of people not being able to see names over heads'... not "Head overseas and get rid of people whatever their names".

Sounds like bullshit tbh
Doubtful. Publishers do this all the time. The same thing happened with Bioware and SWTOR. This was right around the launch date of TESO if it was in the March/April time frame. The only other game in critical/imminent launch stats was Wildstar but they still had another 2 months to go.

But online company could mean anyone. It could have been Zynga for all we know. But it sure smells like ZO at this point. Thing is I am guessing these would have been QA or Customer service workers.

BW: They don't hire temp contractors out for console development. If they did, that is laughably bad.

Either way, the console version is probably getting scrapped. This game is in the toilet. And with that flush, hopefully the careers of Matt Firor and Paul Sage.

In all your rants in this thread, I don't recall the one that explained your irrational and obsessive hatred of these two men. Did they dump you as a boyfriend, turn down your job application or something else of a personal nature?

A part of me is pleased at this failure. So many years in the making
I have never been happier. I feel bad for the good people that work there however.

Hopefully Sage ends up at Zynga with all the other rejects.

What they did to a massively budgeted ES MMO is enough to dread seeing their name attached to a future project.

Apologies if this has been asked/posted already, but any insight into the sales numbers, or how colossal of a failure this is?

I have to add that I'm very proud of myself for not giving in. Until ESO I had tried pretty much every MMO released, but apparently I've finally learned my lesson!

The last number they released was 5 million beta signups. They haven't said shit about sales or subs. All evidence point to huge failure.

They sent me an e-mail saying, in generalities, about how much the game has improved. No free game time to prove it of course, which means they are full of shit.

Considering they aren't a public company, they don't ever have to release figures. They can keep that dirty little secret all to themselves with no nosy stockholders or dirty poopsocking bloggers finding out about it. The few who ever see those numbers will be as tight-lipped as the Trion folks were/are with Rift/Defiance all these years. (only speaking when good news happens)

The amazing thing for me is that while TOR had droves of people leave, they still had quite a bit left in the game as well. Of course no proof, but the entire atmosphere and vibe around ESO's sales and retention scream beyond subpar fails. Lots of other games I remember it took awhile to see just how many people had left overall, even with AoC, Warhammer, etc but it just feels like with ESO, almost everyone can smell the fail right off like a rotted, diseased limb.

I didn't think the game would be that good from what I saw in Alpha and that last week of beta cemented that belief for me, but I never figured it would be anything that would almost make people forget the bastard first months of TOR which this almost does.

I think everyone knew that it was buggy and had issues. But I don't think most people realized how flawed the pvp systems were and how inept ZO would be at getting out any fixes or timely updates.

TOR failed and become a star wars skinned version of WoW with far worse combat, ESO didnt have that pve to fall back on because they didnt follow that pve formula. Also I think PVP games tend to fail faster if they are going to fail.

Tor didn't have any long term appeal for me and many others. Tor did however have a few good runs through it. At a minimum most of us probably did multiple Imperial and a republic or two.

TESO, whose predecessors have some of the best worlds and open ended PVE content, was for me, one of the most painful games to level up in. There were some gems in there quest wise but the overall game was linear, the dialogue was garbage and overall it was a huge disappointment compared to say Skyrim or Oblivion. When the people interested in playing your Elder Scrolls game more or less say "The PVP is the only reason to play this game" then you fucking fail at Elder Scrolls development. This should of been a slam dunk for them. Budget, freedom to do what they wanted and they completely fucked it up.

They made the game they wanted. No excuses. I wish I could find the old letter Sage posted (via proxy) to the alpha forum last year at this time but its been purged from our private area but they more or less said "We have a vision, we know what we are doing and don't really care about your feedback just play the game and let us use our internal metrics to tune things". Great plan.

Good old arrogance.

Is anyone still playing that can take a screenshot of the little population bars for each instance of Cyrodil? Just curious to see how empty it is now.
