There really isn't that much to talk about in Wildstar. They show Paths. Then you say, "Hey it looks cool! I want to be a Settler because X" then someone says, "Yeah that does look cool, but I hope it's not shitty". Then you say, "Yeah". When everyone is agreeing with each other about videos they've watched, it really doesn't foster good discussion or debate. However, TESO's lack of anything plus the shills and fanboys in this thread make for an interesting debate.

If Blackwulf or Tesotester weren't in this thread, Ut's posting would be like 0. Ut needs someone to rail against.

Glad to be of service. On another note: any bets of whether ZOS will have something awesome to show at E3? I'd have bet yes, but they let me down at every other convention so far...

They'll show a gameplay trailer and let a bunch of dudes play it in booths in a very loud environment. Whether it's awesome or not, well, that sort of depends on who is judging it. I think anyone gaming publications outside of MMO-specific sites will either ignore it or continue to be shocked that it's still something that's happening.

If they at least have the beta able to play and people can report what they played that would be a step in the right direction. The major problem is that until consumer reports decides to get into the video game review business, I don't trust video game review sites at all. I would honestly trust what someone here says after playing it more then I would a video game site. We will find out soon enough.

PCGamer has a new article out.

I have become somewhat interested in this game but a few things have me scratching my head.

The game itself won?t have shards ? all players will occupy instances on a single server ? but players and guilds will be bound to particular ?campaigns? for PvP, so the faction war will exist in different states for different people. It?ll be possible to guest in your friends? campaigns, however
Are they trying to confuse me? So the PvP war means nothing? In instance#14 faction#1 is winning, in instance #28 faction#3 is winning, but we are all in the same world having a pint at the gnisis corner club? /sigh, guess its my fault for wanting some meaningfull PvP, or maybe this is more of the "its geared for the single player experience in a MOG" deal.

Your quest to reclaim your soul from Molag Bal will take place in the territories of your chosen faction and lead you to level 50. Then, you?ll be asked to choose a second faction to play through in what amounts to ?new game plus? mode. You?ll go through previously-inaccessible zones whose difficulty and loot has been enhanced for a top-tier player. When you?ve finished, you pick your third and final faction and play through that. You?ll still only be able to group and socialise with people from your own faction, but no content is locked off ? so you can create a Khajiit without fearing that you?ll never get to explore Morrowind.
what? This is the answer to end game content, play it again for a different faction? What about that hard work I put into the PvP battlefront, capturing castles and stuff? I guess I could go retake them for my new faction? Maybe I'm not understanding this correctly.

No, you are.

There's no end-game, you play a single-player RPG except it's online and you can group with other players who are the Prophetised One as well (lotsa Prophetised Ones around? Is there a convention or something?), and you get thrown in with a batch of different players of your side every RvR reset, so you never get to know them.

And somewhat during that, they hope you'll pay enough to offset 6+ years of dev.

It's very similar to the GW2 setup. In GW2 you are bound to your server for WvW but for PvE you can play on any server, using guesting. It sounds like they just took it to the next level and eliminated the PvE servers altogether, which is what GW2 should have done. As for PvP meaning nothing, that is a problem in GW2 also, hopefully TESO didn't copy that too.

*Sigh of course this was going to happen, so many people working this game hate endgame and raids especially. I can picture a meeting where the brought up CoH's endgame of playing as a new character (name escapes me) and they all circle-jerked themselves silly in adoration of how awesome they were. I can picture even Paul Sage going on a rant about how much he hates raids and how people shouldn't have cool shit he cant get on day one. When you make up a game of Devs that are all from other failed MMOs who came up with failed ideas you are going to have a failed MMO. (Fail + Fail + Fail = Fail.)

i see the exact same meeting and one of the douche bags raises his hand and says "i know, instead of two hard factions, which everyone hates, we'll do three! high fives!"

Time to start the cuts.

"Will there be a return of the Thieves Guild?

ZeniMax: Not at launch."

How the fuck does any elder scrolls game not launch with thieves guild quests.

questing was still limited to "gather such item" or "talk to NPC B because NPC A doesn't feel like walking 10 feet"
Ingenious new questing sty... Nevermind. I shouldn't expect anything different out of this since there will never be anymore innovation in the genre.

TES games have picked up and dropped guilds along the way. Like Morag Tong/Dark Brotherhood, and Fighters Guild/The Companions. So theycouldjust be replacing the Thieves Guild with something else, however if that was the case they almost certainly would have said so. So in summary, I agree with you.
