Cinge, I would agree with you if there was anything to discuss. The last time I tried to discuss class skills in the Dark Magic tree listing reasons why not having cool downs on CC with passive abilities to increase already long timers on CC abilities by 20%, it quickly derailed. That's really the only thing we can discuss. And while it is an ongoing balance issue, they, well, don't have RvR implemented and according to Tesotester, won't be, for quite some time. So did they balance those specific CC abilities with PvE in mind for now? Maybe RvR will be in an expansion.

Utnayan, off-topic to this thread, but you've been a reasonable poster for a while here on Rerolled, unlike your tenure on the FoH forums. You're falling back into batshit crazy very rapidly though. I'm pretty sure you're not changing anyone's mind here, people made up their opinions no matter if they agree with you or not. You should probably just let it be, not every crusade is worth fighting.

Utnayan, I'm curious why you spend no time in the Wildstar Thread. You rant about insiders, and yet that game gets a free pass from you despite the Executive Producer being an even bigger career insider than anyone at TESO (Jeremy Gaffney). There's no way one can argue that DAOC or Warhammer were less successful ventures than UO2 or Tabula Rasa. I do think Gaffney is a much smarter guy, and has built a better team, mostly from EQ and Blizzard employees but really that seems just as much an insider operation as any which seems to be your pet peeve, and he's not on your 'approved' list there.

Speak for yourself, please - Wildstar is way too much a WoW clone for me. We already had Rift and SWTOR; I'm not looking forward to another game with the same systems but with Saturday morning cartoon visuals and humor.

Wildstar LOOKS a lot like WOW with the stylized graphics, and while it does have classes a la WOW, I like their path system, housing, momentum mechanics, and social systems while keeping the traditional MMO fun somewhat there.

That said, I was never a fan of WOWs graphics, and I don't care for Wildstars. The TESO video above is what my preferred MMO would look like.

I think Jeremy Gaffney is doing an awesome job with Wildstar. Fuck he spent like a whole weekend answering questions on Wildstar Central's forums. It was pretty much an open honest impromptu AMA.

Wildstar is doing things right, the only think they are lacking is taking down the NDA early. I talked about that though in that thread.

TESO is pretty much the opposite. They launched the game's PR with a massive campaign of interviews and videos. Pretty well produced, but unfortunately everyone on the internet kind of laughed at it.

Then they've been quiet ever since. Rule #1 of marketing: Don't go to PAX East with a demo of the game and tell the press and guests that they can't bring video cameras on to the floor. Fucking lol.

You are correct. Honestly it isn't about changing anyone's minds, but I grow very tired of unethical marketing in this genre. Gecko asked me about Wildstar. Last I checked they are showing the game and the features and people are actually seeing it. I am looking forward to trying it. If only because I like to reward transparancy. However, here, it isn't about changing anyone's mind to purchase the game. I know as well as anyone else that people will buy it or try it at some point because that is what MMORPG players do. But what really gets under my skin is watching the unethical marketing of a game which will absolutely suck, when half their team knows it will suck, when Bethesda knows it will suck. How do I know this? I talk to them. Weekly. I know some of them personally. They aregoodpeople. And I fully trust them (all of them) when I hear the same line from all of them. And honestly, they wouldn't have a problem with it if those folks at Zenimax Online would just shut up, not even say anything, and wait until they have something to show. Instead, they see Paul Sage and Firor, talking about a game where 75% of it doesn't exist.

You know... maybe an industry "revolution" may come after all. From the inside of the industry. Because for the passed 5 years or so now, I have never seen more people in the industry growing tired of the shit that ZO (and to be fair, some other companies in this genre and industry) pull on their unsuspecting consumers daily. And they are talking. And without those folks, you can kiss your games goodbye.

Tru Dat. That is my point, though. I dislike the way TESO is being marketed but at the same time you have an all out nonstop war going on here that seems personal with Matt Firor, and you don't even discuss the game that has a fuckton of actual, you know, MATERIAL to discuss. It's like you don't actually give a fuck about the genre, just attacking people.
