My friends are very white from very rich white families and do very white shit. I too am white, but am a modest rich white. When they make me go to these fucking tacquerias or "down home" hipster fucking places where food is like 15 dollars for a dish that's 600 calories and 90% looks and 10% taste, it pisses me the fuck off.
I know not to go out with them when they try to entice me to go by saying "Oh, their scones are so dank". No dude. Not they fucking aren't. I'd 100% rather go to Chili's and spend 20 dollars on an app, 1200 calories of mediocre food, and a big fucking molten then spend 30 dollars on some fucking arugula salad and a deconstructed ANYTHING. THAT is what hipster food is.
Their wedding catering is always pretty terrible too. Fucking plain chicken, shitty asparagus, some salad that's more decoration than food, and a if I'm LUCKY a sweet potato souffle or something actually tasty. Luckily my best friend is a real bro and he told me A: his wedding is buffet style and B: he has like 2 rounds of snacks after dinner and one is breadsticks from the college bar everyone loved stuff with cheese and pepperoni. That's real bro shit right there.

I'm voting that that's an upgrade. I love me some mushrooms and that bacon smokehouse thing was just sickly sweet. Seems like a lot of people here are all in for anything where they dump a bunch of sugar on your burger.

There's places around KC (and pretty much every city) where I wouldn't bat an eye at "failed art school waitress with tats and piercings everywhere" or "dude in skinny jeans and enough product in his hair to deflect a meteor". Asian places usually aren't.
Lulu's is one of those places positioned to cater to the young, white metropolitan crowd that lives in downtown KC. Authenticity isn't critical because...frankly...those young white metros wouldn't know good fucking Thai food if you fed it to them. In their minds "Thai food = Noodles!" and that's the bulk of their sales. Seriously, look at their Yelp reviews. At least 75% or their reviews are white chicks. I'm literally going through them right now, and it's bizarre how the reviews oscillate between "OMFG Great! Authentic!" and reviewers noting that it really isn't authentic, or making the same complaints I have over the years.

I legit want to take actual Thai folks there, just to see them pick that shit apart. And to be honest, I barely trust myself when it comes to Asian food, because I'm a white Midwesterner through and through, and the Chinese food I grew up on...wasn't actually Chinese food.
