It all evens out though, because us lucky bastards here in the midwest have cheaper steak than the coasts. I love seafood, but I eat steak/beef a hell of a lot more often than I eat seafood(although maybe I wouldn't if I lived elsewhere, who knows)
Although the best deal I ever saw was when I went to visit some friends in Mobile Alabama about 10-15 years ago(this was pre-Katrina and pre-BP oil spill), For dinner one night we ran over to this boat dock area in a shady looking part of mobile, and this dude was selling fresh shrimp off his shrimpboat for like $3 a lb. We bought 20 lbs of shrimp and ate like kings. It was the best goddamned shrimp I've ever had, and it was about 1/5 the cost of buying shrimp here in the midwest. If I lived there I'd be eating that shit every damned day.

2lbs of lobster fresh is about $45 dollars here in Seattle.
Previously frozen tails at the local shit-mart are about $10 each
in NH right now theyre i think 8.99/lb on sale at Market Basket. I guess that'd be as-of Saturday when I was there last.

Huge exaggeration. That shit is around 10 bucks a pound cost to stores and markets in Chicago and usually gets a nice mark up to around 20 bucks a pound max. Unless you shop at some faggot yuppy place that likes to pretend they have fresher lobsters then the rest of the stores that all get their shit from the same places.

I doubt I've ever had a really good lobster but the ones I have had would have been nothing without coating them in butter, and what's not good slathered in butter? When I'm at a restaurant I can never convince myself that a giant bug would be better than a delicious steak that I can have for $5-10 less than the lobster.
