Having lived in Texas most of my young childhood/adult life, that is true. People in Texas don't eat that shit. I didn't even know what it was until I moved out to California.

Where are all the great hot dog fast food places? Hamburgers everywhere, and yet I've never come across a Five Guys type of place for hot dogs. I'm sure they exist here and there, but I'm surprised there isn't a successful, nationwide chain.

I used to love Callahan's as a kid. Not sure if that was nationwide, though.

Also, I was eating a gyro while reading Wombat's post about gyros. Shit was delicious.

I once ordered a gyro and the fucking place didn't give me any sauce. I killed three people and a dog.

There are tons of fast food hot dog places in LA, I love it, even though I try to keep my distance from processed junk. They're not major chains or anything, but little hot dog stands or small hole in the wall places. Pinks is a really well known one that a lot of people are familiar with. It's good, but it has its following, so it's a bit over hyped.

As for the gyro, it's definitely pronounced like "Euro" but you add a tiny twist into the E, almost like a VERY faint "gEuro", but the way it comes out it sounds just as if you're saying "Euro." I wouldn't really worry about it lol, hardly anyone says it the "Euro" way. My family is from Greece and I've been there quite a few times and that's how they say it though.

Damn, that looks good. I hadn't even heard of shawarma until this thread. I wonder if there are any good places in Ft Lauderdale/Miami.

They had one right near St. Johns in Queens while I was there. Lamb with white and red sauce was the best tasting thing ever.

However - eat it more than once a week and you were facing battery acid for a long while.

It's probably because I only ate at touristy places, but the kebabs and doners I had in Istanbul were awful compared to ones I've gotten in the USA and other countries at Turkish restaurants.

Really? They were pretty fucking awesome in Munich when I was there, and I would assume they were all run by Turks.

The place I go to is very popular. If you don't get there before noon the line is halfway around the block. But it only costs $8 - which really isn't much different from any other fast food joint - and the preparation is rather fast since the meat is on a rotisserie all day. I agree with one of the posters above that it might be my favorite fast food. Burrito joints are really high on the list too though.

There's an Vietnamese place near me that has all kinda of shit I can't pronounce, luckily they put numbers never to every dish so you can just say what number you want when you order. lol
What Vietnamese do you like up here? Ngon is great but I only ever go to St Paul when I'm forced to. Otherwise I just go to Quang like everyone else. Sorry for the not fast food derail.

Am I taking crazy pills here, or do you guys not have Weinerschnitzels? I'm not going to say it is "Five Guys quality" as I've never had Five Guys, but its a fast food joint predicated on hot dogs, which is basically what you're asking for, right?

Maybe they aren't nationwide and I've just seen them all my life and assumed.

Looks like they're strictly West/South West going by the map on their website. I've never heard of them before.

In other fast food news, I tried Panda Express for the first time in a very, very long time today. for 8.50ish they give a ridiculous amount of food.

We don't even have Weinerschnitzels in the Bay Area. I've only seen them in southern California. I thought you were in Sacramento for some reason. Are there any up there?
