The only thing I can eat at McDonalds anymore is a Big Mac. Anything else causes my Crohn's to tell me fuck you for some reason.

I work with a guy, huge guy, like 330+ easily, and he eats McDonald's probably 4 days a week minimum. He's like 5'6". It doesn't look good, it doesn't smell good, it can't taste good. I just don't understand paying money for that shit. Even if a quality place costs twice as much (which it doesn't) it would be worth it.

Back in California on vacation, and all I have to say is that In N' Out rapes the living fuck out of 5 Guys. I gave 5 Guys the benefit of the doubt, thinking that my nostalgia/rose colored glasses for In N' Out was tainting my opinion. Nope, 5 Guys can suck a dick, they don't come close.

In & Out tastes like the best fast food burger you've ever had, 5 Guys tastes like the best backyard BBQ burger you've ever had, that's the difference. In & Out rocks, don't get me wrong, but 5 Guys doesn't even tastes like fast food. Sorry, prize goes to 5 Guys.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Five Guys is by far better, it's just pricey. In N Out is the best cheap burger you'll ever eat. So if you're looking to spend $5, you really can't do any better. If money is no object, Five Guys wins. Five Guys is a lot greasier too, so I suppose if you enjoy a "healthier" burger, that'd work too.

And In N Out fries suck dick. Even getting them well done or animal style can't fix it.

In n Out fries definitely suck but 5 Guys is really overrated in my opinion.

Am I the only person that can't eat McDonalds because the food tastes fake? I feel it going into my mouth, but there it doesn't even feel like I'm really eating something real. It's hard to explain.
My biggest issue is all the sodium (I'm guessing) - several times I've woken up the next day after eating McDonalds and I've literally felt hungover.

If I were to get some Wendys or BK and let it sit for an hour then rewarm it...that is kind of how McDonalds seems to me. Of course they actually kind of do that, so it shouldn't be a surprise. Precooking meat and buns, keeping them warm and moist and then throwing it together later would be my guess as to why it might feel this way.

McDonalds is still dirt-ass cheap, that's how they mainly get by. Sure, their combos aren't much cheaper than any place else, but where else can you get a double cheeseburger(McDouble), a chicken sandwhich(McChicken) and a large drink for 3 bucks? Thats a hell of a filling meal right there, and its 3 bucks(its also like 1000 calories). You can't even get a 6-inch sub at Subway for 3 bucks anymore, much less with a drink.

It's almost shocking how expensive fast food is anymore if you really look at it. Subway has like 2 sandwhiches that are $5 footlongs anymore, most of their footlongs are $6.50 - $8.50, if you add chips and a drink you're up to 10 dollars easy. A big roast beef at Arbys is like 4 or 5 bucks just for the sandwhich, 8 or 9 if you want it as a combo. A whopper combo at Burger King is like $7, etc. I don't always eat just off the value menus, but Mcdonalds you can legitimately get a LOT of food for like 3 bucks. Its crazy. That just shows you how low quality it really is.

That's an interesting point. A few weeks ago I saw a commercial for McNuggets...something like 45 of them for $8, and my first thought was "Wow, that's really cheap!"

My second thought though, was, "Wait a second, I can buy a few pounds of actual chicken breasts for that much. That's a terrible deal!"

I don't know why the first thought went through my head at all. I guess I've been brainwashed. And I don't even eat fast food.

I think most fast food chains have adopted their own version of a dollar-ish menu, though. I like some of the cheap Wendys burgers better, hell I think I'd go with some of the new Taco Bell cheap items over McDs. Or even something as simple as bean burritos.

I am finding myself just making the stuff at home anymore, though. 12 tortillas, refried beans and cheese doesn't cost much at all, Wizardhawk fast food math aside.

If you're eating anything other than a Sausage McMuffin w/egg, hashbrowns, and an orange juice at McDonald's, you're doing it wrong.

And maybe it's because of where I live, but the dollar menu at fast food joints is quickly disappearing. I mean fuck, a taco at Taco Bell is $1.20, just down the road.

I dunno OneofOne, you probably have a point now that you mention it. I don't like any of their breakfast stuff, but thinking about it the McMuffins probably are one of the things that are closest to actually being food (sausage cooked on grill, toasted muffin, actual egg, etc). Now, the "folded" eggs that they put on biscuits...ugh. They used to come as a pasteurized egg liquid in what was essentially a paper milk carton; seeing those eggs poured into a form from a carton just ruined those for me.

Also their biscuits became much worse in my opinion when they went to a premade frozen biscuit. If I had to get a breakfast item from McDs I would probably get either a plain biscuit or biscuit+sausage+cheese, but that's more because their biscuits seem like some sort of neutral territory for my stomach rather than they being something that I actually enjoy eating.

I've heard people mention breakfast items from other places that were better (who has that croissant stuff?) but I'm not a big breakfast person in the first place.
