The only reason you can say Chipotle isn't fast food is because of no drive-thru. Otherwise it's fast food.

The only thing "fast" about Chipotle is the food exiting my body after consuming it. Even if there is no one in line it takes at least 5 minutes for the person to put stuff on a tortilla and wrap it.

Anything you can walk in, off the street, order food, and eat it elsewhere in under 5 minutes is fast food. That 5 minutes is 'expected' time, so none of that "well, they were slow it was 15 minutes at McD's one time so it's not fast food?!?!?" argument shit. Chipotle/Qdoba are Mexican Subways. Albeit of much higher quality, but that's exactly what they are.

Chipotle is a made-to-order store with a food category that has short prep time, so they're fast food but simply not designed to handle a mass volume of customers like Chick or McD's.

"Fast Casual" is the title places like that fall under I believe. Them, Noodles and Company, and others.

Ah that's interesting to hear - still never bothered trying one - was excited before they came to MD and everyone poo-pooed them so gave up on trying, maybe I'll test the waters again soon - this region tends to have above average fast food places so probably actually good here.

Steak and Shake is good stuff, definitely the best new chain I've run across being down in Florida now that we didn't have up north. (That I've been to so far)
