I don't know if I'd say better -- different. IMO they offer wildly different menus that comparing the two is apples vs oranges. Like when people call Taco Bell Mexican food. Its like ... ok maybe its the closest comparison but its still way off.

The good thing about Chipotle compared to Qdoba is they do one thing (burritos and variations of burritos) and they do it well. Where Qdoba seems to do many things average. I do love their taco salads though.

I know we've had this discussion here, probably several times, but

Chipotle has higher-quality meat
Qdoba offers about 10x as many items as Chipotle to make up for it, so it has it's own strengths.

I wonder if this is true. I can't imagine distributors saying "Chipotle gets first pick because they pay us more than QDoba... you know, after our michelin star restaurants that is."

I doubt there is any difference in the meat between even Chipotle and Taco Bell.

Chipotle uses hormone free beef and free range chicken and shit don't they?
Do any of us even know what any of that actually means? For instance, grass fed beef is allowed to be fattened up with corn and such for so many days/weeks before slaughter. So even though they were grass fed for the first X portion of their life they were all hopped up on the juice when they were made into that delicious steak. They call beef that's only eaten grass "Grass Finished". Which makes no friggin sense.

I just meant "higher quality meat" as in it tastes better. Its seasoned better, and it seems to always be more fresh, and more tender. Probably has a lot to do with just how busy any Chipotle always is, they're having to cook fresh meat constantly. I think the stuff at Qdoba sits around a bit longer, it doesn't have that "fresh off the grill" taste to it.

I always get steak at both places, and Chipotle's steak is always more tender, and more flavorful. Qdobas steak is closer to Taco Bell steak in quality, than Chipotle, imho.

I don't exactly know what it means and I'm sure it is mostly buzzwords and marketting but I'm sure if Taco Bell could say they use hormone free beef and free range chickens they'd sure as fuck have it in giant as bold letters like Chipotle does

On that note since I've lived with my wife I always used to buy the generic $1/dozen jumbo eggs from the grocery store. She would buy the cage free chicken eggs and I always thought it was just bullshit. I can attest those eggs taste fucking delicious compared to the generic supermarket ones.

Exactly. Discounting seasoning/flavor altogether, the meat in Chipotle has a much better texture and seems far less processed than Taco Bell. I ain't hating on Taco Bell, but it's just cheaper in all sense of the word.

I ain't sayin Chipotles meat isn't higher quality. I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't.

The future is here, my friends

Done drinking your KFC coffee? Eat the cup - CNET

At select KFC restaurants in the UK, the company will use a coffee cup that's fashioned out of a cookie wrapped in edible sugar paper and fortified with a layer of heat-resistant white chocolate that helps keep the cookie crispy and your coffee hot. As you drink your joe, the chocolate lining melts over time, making your coffee a bit sweeter and softening the cookie so it sort of melts in your mouth. Once you've finished drinking your brew, you can eat the cup for dessert.

I used to never think there was a difference either until I moved to my current neighborhood. My closest grocery is this super trendy everything-is-local spot. The eggs are so much better.

There is a Qdoba right down the road from me and I've never been to one before. All this Qdoba talk is making me want to try it. Sounds like smothered burrito with red chile sauce and creamy chipotle is the way to go.

Only ever visited two Qdoba's and dozens of Chipotle's - and my experience is the exact opposite. It sounds like you ran into some bad franchises. (At least a number of the Chipotle's in question are corporate ones in my case, both Qdoba's were franchise)

Hell, most of the time at Qdoba, they were literally pulling meat right off the grill that hadn't been sitting around mid-order. Only stuff I've ever actually witnessed rotate at Chipotle was the fajita veggies. And the most common one, being near the college was using batches of meat that literally had to be 20 lbs of meat or so at a time the serving container things that they had in the line were at least a foot and a half deep when they came out for the veggies.

I thought the main thing with Chipotle was most of their ingredients were as local as they could get (including meat, vegetables, etc).
