Eh, McCheese - I buy organic lettuce (well, usually arugula technically) and that's the first thing that goes bad on me, but with how I store it I usually get at least 10 days out of it - two weeks occasionally. Crisper drawer with a "freshness keeper" thing that looks sorta like one of those dryer bar attachments for the dryer. [although I just got that, dunno if I've done any since I got the freshness keeper - just got it at the start of the month, and don't think we got any extra since we really did alot of sandwiches at the beginning - did a sub tray for 40 people at the beginning of the month for the wife's Bday, had probably 15 worth of leftovers]

And with the tupperware I store it in have perforation in the lid to let it breathe a little.

YMMV with less prep - but a week sounds way too short.

Not that hard to get through a tomato before it goes bad. Also not hard to buy a head of lettuce for a cheap price, and use it until it goes bad if it does. Or make a salad with it once it starts aging and you're not using it on sandwiches.

I think my issue with most sandwiches I buy is that I don't like the bread. I like a good, crusty bread with plenty of texture. It seems that I'm in the minority on that.

Honestly, I usually buy organic because I like the clamshell things it comes in... I don't really care about organic particularly, but down here in FL they only clamshell organic arugula and spring mix. So I'm stuck with keeping my previous packaging. [And yea, I fibbed above it's the clamshell it comes in I perforate a little, I don't damage my actual tupperware to make lettuce containers was easier to just say tupper]

Heck, even in MD I think only Safeway had the clamshell containers for regular lettuce types.

3 nights a week I eat Blue Apron meals (i.e., all ingredients provided) and the other 4 I eat out. Also, I only eat once a day in general, so I don't have a use for vegetables. Literally the only thing in my fridge at the moment are two Blue Apron bags and a Brita water pitcher.

How is the variety on those? Also have you ever triedFresh ingredients delivered to cook a delicious meal in 30 minutes.? Saw that on Shark Tank and was curious how people like it or even why they do it.

Blue Apron is the most reasonably priced food service I've ever seen. Wow! I was expecting at least triple for that!

Cost of living out here is pretty cheap. I usually get five apples, five oranges, couple pounds of broccoli, some bagged brussel sprouts, tub or two of spinach/romaine for about twenty bucks.

All relative I guess - seeing it close to Maryland, which is quite a bit over the national average. Admittedly, I thought it was more like nearing NYC/SF level like Seattle is though - but it's still hardly "cheap".

You can get a microwave for like 40 dollars, or just reheat it in the oven.
Reheating stuff in an oven takes way too long to be worth it. I'd rather eat it cold at that point. Anyway, I don't own a microwave by choice. If I have a microwave, I'll eat too much junk food. I've got people literally trying to give me free microwaves but I don't want one.

Maybe that is the root of my hatred for the Microwave Cuisine Thread.
