Firehouse are starting to show up in MD now?

And yea, definitely impressed with them as a sub shop since coming down here - definitely an awesome meatball.

They've been here for several years as far as I know. At least, in the Baltimore region of MD.

Firehouse is new in my area in Indiana. But I love their Italian subs, definitely my go to place for those. If I want a cold sub, I go to Jimmy Johns though.

Cold subs are bullshit. If I wanted fucking cold cuts on bread I'd make it myself for 1/5th the price. If I'm paying someone else to make me a sub it better be hot and delicious.

I've eaten at Firehouse a couple of times and I wasn't really that impressed. I'd rather go to Publix and get a much better sub(or like Grim said, make your own).

Can you, can you really? Maybe if you like your sandwich plain the price difference is wider. I used to think subway was a ripoff for what it was too, but when you think about it. If a foot long sub costs 6 bucks and its using bread, 3 kinds of meats, cheese, lettuce, bell pepper, pickles, olives, jalepenos, tomatoes, sauce, etc. go to the store and buy all those ingredients and see how much cheaper it is and don't forget its going to take you about 10 minutes to prepare. Its not a bad value when you really think about it.

The other thing to consider when making your own sandwiches vs. buying them is that ingredients don't last long. Unless you eat a sandwich every day, you'll likely be wasting money on ingredients that spoil. You can't really go to the grocery store and buy just enough veggies and meat for a single sandwich.

New Taco Bell Chickstar things are pretty damn good. I had the Chipotle one and it was surprisingly pretty spicy compared to anything I've had at Taco Bell. I haven't seen them advertised on TV yet

For cold subs, Publix is badass - but that meatball though...

Sure you can. Go to the deli at the store, buy one slice of coldcut if you want to. I don't eat sandwiches every day, but fairly often, and I don't have to throw away food. And it is rare that I buy a sandwich I like as much as what I make at home.

The closest grocery store by my house is a walmart neighborhood market, so while it sucks, its less than a half mile from my house. The last time I tried to get something from the deli there were only 2 ppl ahead of me and it took 30 minutes by the time I got my shit; luckily the wife was with me and she literally finished the entire rest of the shopping while I just waited in line at the deli the whole time.

Besides that though, its easy to eat a pack of sandwich meat before it goes bad, its fresh lettuce, bell pepper, tomato, etc.

I was thinking more about the vegetables spoiling than the meat, but it all depends on how often you eat a sandwich. I used to make a sandwich at home 2 - 3 times a month, and I'd have to buy fresh ingredients each time (bread, meat, veggies) because whatever I had left over from the last time was spoiled. At that frequency you're better off just going to a deli and buying one. Sure, if you eat them several times a week you won't have a problem.

Also, I'm not a fancy 1%er with so much free time that I can whip up fancy sandwiches.

Sounds like you guys need to get a better refrigerator if your veggies are spoiling that quick.
