Nobody in our office on this side is what you would call a white collar background. Just cheap asses I think. They rather eat at Chipolte than a Mexican food place and I'm 1/2 beween San Antonio and Austin.
LOL, that's like being in China and eating at panda express.

I had never eaten at Panda Express since I don't do a lot of fast style foods and I'm not sure we had one where I used to live. They told me they were taking me to get Chinese nd it was a great place. It was "ok". They did at least take me to a real chinese restaurant but they only go on Wed. or whatever it is to get the all you can eat buffet for $1.00 off.

I wanted to eat at 5 guys just because we didn't one of those either and it sounded like an OK place to just run to quickly and grab a fast lunch for something different. They told me it was too expensive. I know what 2 out of 3 make to the penny....but whatever.

Being a VP doesn't automatically mean you're classy/fancy/whatever. I once saw the founder, President and CEO of a 150+ million dollar company come to a friend's backyard BBQ/crab party and take ALL the leftover crabs home at the end. He and his wife were picking through the pile of leftover crabs and pulling out all the best ones, all the meaty legs, and throwing them into ziploc bags that they had brought. Motherfucker go buy your own damn crabs, you're rich!
Usually you don't stay "in money" by being wasteful - it's not a rare trait at all to be frugal constantly when you're wealthy - more saved is more to invest after all.

Really rich people that act like that are just being cheap tho. There's a difference between being smart with money, and just being a penny pincher.

And the rich are very rich, and it's not because they used a coupon on a Whopper.

It depends, it's all a matter of factoring in how much value you get out of something. Very few people that stay wealthy just throw extra money at everything needlessly, they just prioritize a few personal favorites and budget the rest strictly.

Considering one of them drives 2 miles to work and has never seen dirt in his life and drives a $75k truck. He was shocked my grille guard on my truck was dented and I had blood in the back from hauling dead deer and pigs. Oh the HORROR in my $35k 8 year old truck.

If I had two $75k trucks I'd probably eat cheap too.

Almost everyone in our office in upper management is from CA. I'm a redneck/coonass from south Louisiana and I stick out like a sore dick at a nudist colony. Maybe that's where I get it from, you can't have a 30 second business meeting without having it over lunch in Louisiana even if it's a roadside something out of the back of someones truck.

They really shit a brick when I hung pics on my office of dead animals and a pic with me and Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty I took about 15 years ago at USFWS meeting when he just big for making duck calls. He got ticked at the meeting because he met resistance of his idea of the USFWS releasing pen raised mallards in an effort to help his effort of shooting mallards. He threw a chair and hit a biologist. Good times lol.

Anyway I think I will eat at 5 guys next week. I probably haven't eaten anything but a quick burger in years at a fast food place. I guess I need to look back on the thread and see what's good. We get off on Fridays before lunch so I'll have to scope it out before Monday.

We have a Panera bread is that something I can do quickly alone for something different? It's a new one on me.

I don't think you know any really wealthy people then, especially people that come from old money.

Saving pennys is worthless. If I put 100k lots on a notepad that equaled a billion dollars then took one of those away you would have a hard time even finding where it went.
Rich people that penny pinch have nothing to do with them losing their wealth. That is a sickness like hoarding.

People who lose their money are typically new rich where they don't fathom how much they have, and since they never had money before spend it endlessly.Giving money to friends, and family members because they are guilt into it.

That's why you see alot of sports personalities lose all their money.

In fact if the rich don't spend money we are all fucked.

Anyway back on topic, Panera Bread isn't bad, and you can get it quickly as long as you avoid the lunch rush. You live in Texas tho man, there is so many mom, and pop restraunts in strip malls that serve way better food, and cheaper. Hell, the selection of foods from the lunch trucks alone are great.

You don't have a lot of choice at 5 Guys. You get a burger, decide how big you want it, decide if you want bacon and/or cheese and pick what toppings you want. They have a pretty decent selection of toppings, but nothing off the wall for a burger so just pick what you like.

Then you get fries. Get a small fry if it's just you. You'll still have twice as many fries as you could possibly want in a lifetime. God help you if you order a large....

Panera is usually pretty quick. But it's more about deli style sandwiches and soups and salads. It's definitely on the "healthier" side. And of course they have pastries of every kind to balance that out. When I say "healthier," it's usually populated by fatties that love to eat there and get a salad with an extra cup of ranch dressing. But hey! It's a salad.... And then of course they get a pastry because well you deserve one if you have a salad.

I'll usually get a half soup half salad combo. Their avocado cobb chicken salad is pretty tasty (although they seem to ignore dressing on the side if it's not to go). Their soups are all pretty good too, but most of them are traps leaning toward the unhealthy. I get the black bean if they have it (usually), lemon chicken orzo (rarely) or the chicken noodle if worse comes to worse.

I would pay $1,000 for a real po-boy on real french bread. Blah. So far the food has been the only downside. The tex-mex is good, but i miss good po-boys that you could literally get a great one at a gas station.

I'm not much of a healthy eater, but I'm not a fatty. In fact I could stand to gain some weight having lost a ton last year when I got sick. I'm 6'-0" and I'm 180-185 now.

Yeah, that ain't going to happen here brother. I'm from new orleans you can't beat the food they have. They can't even get a crawfish boil correct.

They have this one Po Boy shop in Metarie I always make sure to stop at when I'm down there.

I hate tex mex btw, but Texas does have good Pho, and surprisingly some good latin fusion restaurants.

Also Salt Lick in Austin is stupid good.

My girlfriend lives in Austin, I try to avoid it if I can. I am looking to buy in the hill country west of Schertz/New Braunsfel.

I could always just eat at the house. My temp apartment the company is providing is maybe 3 minutes from the office.

There's a po-boy place here but I'm afraid to try it. It's like a guy I knew went on vacation in Denver once and came back and bitched about the cajun food. No shit, it's a 1,000 miles away from cajun land.

I prefer Panda Express to most Chinese places because at least I know what I'm getting. It might just be the Chinese food around here, but most are terribly inconsistent or just terrible.

Jimmies rustled by Denny's recently.

Why the fuck does Denny's not leave syrup on the table like IHOP? They give you this shitty little ramekin of syrup, which isn't nearly enough to properly drown your pancakes and waffles. Hell, even asking for extra syrup (which to them automatically means 1 extra ramekin) is barely enough. Not to mention they don't have any pour spouts on them so it's a pain in the butt to accurately aim the syrup without sloshing it all over the place. Just leave a container of syrup on the table next to the ketchup and let me self-syrup, please.

I kinda agree. Better than 90% of other Chinese places with their all you can shit buffets and $3.99 lunch specials.

The places that are usually better are the ones that cost quite a bit more too. The nicer ones where you sit down and order usually are $10-15 per order, but are also usually better.

McCheese post.

But really, I used to drown it when I was younger. Now I actually prefer the low sugar syrup that is more watery so that I can add a bit of flavor to the pancakes without going into a sugar coma
