Is chili and pasta a normal thing? I've only really ever had chili by itself with hunks of bread or my father's chili he makes specifically for hot dogs.

Chili mac, bro. It might not be able to get forums fixed, but it's damn delicious.

It's a mental thing, because I don't mind chili, and love pasta, but mix the 2 together, and all I can think about is the disgusting Hamburger Helper that used be at school lunches, and served at home. Goulash is another name? All fucking gross.

I can't eat chili as a main dish either. It has to be a topping.

A proper goulash is amazing, shut your mouth.
Potentially, but all has been ruined by shitty ass Hamburger Helper. Notice the mixes of hamburger + other things is what I can't stand for some reason. Chili, Goulash, etc.

I never had chili mac until I met my wife. I cooked up a big batch of my chili one day and find her boiling noodles. Im like, WTF you doing? I made chili! Shes like "Chili mac, silly!" So yeah, I guess I never ate chili mac until my wife.

But what I have discovered one day was pure pleasure. So I make my chili one day and discover I have no noodles. So searching around the house I find 2 boxes of three cheese mac n cheese. So I cook those up, make the mac and cheese and mixing the chili and mac n cheese was like blow your mind good. That creamy cheese sauce mixing with the spicy chili sauce is so fucking good, I can taste it right now writing this shit. My kids and wife loved it and this is all weve been eating chili with from that point on.

A proper goulash uses something closer to stew beef. Sounds like you're talking about something closer to stroganoff - which can vary pretty drastically...

A good proper goulash is hunks of beef in a sauce, often thickened with mostly paprika and pepper driving the flavor. Most go the tomato route for the sauce, I prefer the less common sour cream based sauces myself (I normally HATE sour cream too - basically it and french onion dip are my only applications for it personally)

IDK my mom always just made it with Cincinnati Chili powder when I was a kid. Didn't taste as good as real Skyline but it got the job done.

Will this recipe pass for you Cincinnati Chili supertasters?

Recipe looks solid. I wouldn't mix the onions in with the beef though. I'd wait until the end and put raw chopped up onions on top of the chili. That's how it's served in restaurants. I don't think I'd want the onions in the actual chili. It would fuck up the consistency.

I make my own Cincy chili from time to time and I never thought to refrigerate the cooked meat overnight so you can skim off the fat. Solid trick that I'll use next time.

Ya, I'm talking elbow macaroni, with hamburger. Ghetto Goulash? Gross. Or maybe that's just chili mac, and I don't like that either. Chili is pretty good though if it's on top of a hotdog, or on top of some corn bread!

Yea, sounds more like bad chili mac... sorta like how my wife talks about her dad making her mac and cheese and adding hamburger to it... ugh.

I haven't had it in years, but as a kid I legit loved some Hamburger Helper. I didn't even understand that it wasn't considered "food" by you supertasting fuckers until later in life. Fucking LOVED it. Beef Strokinoff flavor, I could McCheese a whole box of that shit in one sitting.

I thought Noodle was talking about bratwurst or something. If your idea of high quality hot dogs is just Ball Park franks then I am sticking with my "not good enough to be pretentious about the toppings" stance. I eat hot dogs fairly often but I have never confused them with good food.
