Black coffee is kind of like beer. You just have to drink a few cups before you start enjoying it. It's really worth doing just because it makes your life so much easier if you can just have your coffee and not worry about whether people are going to make it right or how many calories it has.

As an aside, I noticed the local Kum & Go was doing a Name Our Drink contest a number of years back. It was for their 60 or 80 ounce or whatever fountain pop and I submitted the name "Kum Guzzler" and I am still, to this day, very disappointed I did not win.
The first time I ever saw a Kum & Go (Driving across Iowa, about 15 years ago) I immediately chuckled, then I knew I had to stop and get a drink cup with the name on it, no one back home would ever believe me that a store would actually be named that.

I think I still have that cup somewhere...

With a name like Kum & Go you know the first name was really Cum & Go until some dude stood up and said "wait, wait! WAIT!" and explained it.

I started drinking coffee at my internship and it was the most vile coffee I've ever had in my life. I just assumed this is how all coffee tastes but I needed a morning jolt. Now that I drink actual good coffee it is like drinking dessert every morning.

That's a good point. While some people genuinely don't like the taste of black coffee, I think for a lot of people it's simply that they've never had a really high-quality, tasty black coffee. Similar to beer, there is a huge variety of flavors when it comes to black coffee, and sometimes it takes a bit of experimenting to find one that you really like. There are some brands/kinds that I simply can't stand unless they're buried in cream and sugar, and others that I wouldn't want to sweeten because it would ruin the taste of the coffee itself.

Any suggestions for something not to horrendously priced. I usually just bounce between the site brand flavors. Swear they ask the same, need to buy all 8 and open and try side by side. I know over is horrendous even with cream sugar. None are what is consider black drinkable. I know I've had a few cups that were almost good black but we're in situations I had no clue what they were. I'm sure I'm more breakfast blend least buyer possible. But all the fake pre flavored hazelnut and other shit I know I don't like from what I've tried.

Well yes and no. You don't have to worry about people making it right which is fairly trivial, but you do start having to concern yourself more with the quality of the coffee. Now hey, maybe you can acclimate yourself to the taste of Folgers and that's fine, but the fact is if it's black, the bean matters even more.

This has been my staple for years.

They've recently jumped in price quite a bit, I guess others caught on or something, but it's still just really good coffee and not overpriced.

I buy my coffee off Amazon. You can get a couple pound bag of really high quality coffee for around $20. If you aren't a huge coffee drinker I suggest just getting a pretty standard-issue medium roast. I personally prefer dark roast coffees but my wife has to drown it in cream and milk to drink it so I just stick with middle of the road stuff.

Technically, I think I found that for most people it comes down to the method of roast more than anything that dictates the rest of their coffee preference.

Personally I can't stand french roast (honestly, it tastes like what I'd expect piss to taste like...) - but give me a nice blonde/light roast and we're in business even without cream/sweetening.

I've seen preference WITHIN a roast, but people that liked a dark roast would seem to like it regardless of the bean/flavoring paired with it and similar with light roast/medium roast folk. (And it seems to me like the most common dislike is dark/medium roasts - like most instant/gas station/fast food coffees are - obviously some confirmation bias involved there though - I will say the dark roast lovers are REAL coffee lovers that have trouble skipping having coffee at their assigned times though)

[Source: I hung out at the coffee bar far too often during my working years - most of the interviews I'd do there, I'd chat with people over any type of reviews there, I'd hang out there for my social time while working - heck even probably logged 80-100 hrs of actually running the coffee bar when there was a staffing shortage - only normal department I ever filled in on]

Very true. I've never been a big coffee drinker but I do drink it black. I just acclimated myself to the taste of it thinking "Coffee is just bitter and slightly unpleasant until you get used to it"

Then I started dating a woman who owned her own coffee catering business and was huge into all different kinds of beans and roasts from all over the world. And I started drinking really good coffee. I stopped drinking it altogether after we stopped dating because I was too cheap and lazy to go out and find it on my own (she'd just give it to me, whole bean, and I bought a grinder just because of that). Eventually I learned to tolerate the shitty stuff again though.

For the price this is probably the best coffee I've bought

Amazon.com : Koffee Kult Coffee Beans Medium Roasted - (2 Lb Whole Bean Coffee) Highest Quality Delicious Coffee - Fresh Gourmet Aromatic Artisan Blend : Grocery Gourmet Food

It is really flavorful and the beans are super oily. It is good stuff.

I don't. You can be a snob about anything, but if it's coffee, I am more than happy to drink it.

look to properly be a hipster douchebag you need to switch to cold brew coffee, preferably in bullet proof form. but seriously cold brew coffee is great, i buy a 32 oz jar from sprouts or trader joes every week and it lasts me 5-8 days, its $8 and i don't have to deal with brewing, grounds, or any of that shit. I do prefer cold coffee to warm though since its hot as hell out here usually. Since its cold brewed it doesn't have that bite/acidity that hot brewed coffee does

If we're talking coffee, can someone tell me about Keurigs? Is the coffee good? It's certainly fast and convenient and terrible for the environment.

I received one as a gift once after swearing I'd never use it because the grinds aren't as good blah blah blah. I've discovered there are plenty of quality K-cups and the convenience of it makes it my go-to coffee machine.

I only drink my coffee black. Milk/Sugar ruin the flavor and make it unhealthy. Although I have dabbled in some of those flavored creamers from 1/2 and 1/2 and they are damn tasty, but I can feel the beetus coming for me after drinking coffee with them. Really like Kicking Horse, Blue Mountain and the Kona coffees I've tried from various brands have all been smooth (all whole bean).

Most instant coffee angers my bowels, so I stay away from them.

I have two growlers I get refilled every few weeks at a place called Dunn Brothers. They roast their own beans on site and their coffee is really good. It's like $11 to fill a growler and their cold press is pretty good. It's the only coffee I drink actually.

In actual fast food news, I had some pumpkin cheesecake square donuts the other day from Dunkin' Donuts. Heavenly! A++ do recommend. I plan on getting more on Saturday morning.

We talk about pumpkin flavored fast food items in this thread every year in the fall. Pumpkin pie blizzards are especially popular, and you can find posts about them dating back to 2013.
