McDonalds Spicy Chicken is no match for Wendy's spicy chicken, but it scratches the itch and for a buck, it's really not that bad.

The only time McDonalds is good is when they are busy so the shit is fresh.
the wendys/bk/mcds are right next to each other where im from. if im deciding which one i want, i'll usually go to whichever business' line is longer

isn't that counter intuitive? I'd like fast food, but I'd prefer to wait to ensure quality.

My experience with fast food has been the opposite. The more slammed they are, the more the service suffers.

Yeah I make sure to check all my orders now before I leave. Its rare we go to those places anymore but when we do I swear its like 50% fail rate. I get home with a sack of this shit and always something missing, never one more of something, no.

Its not even cheap anymore. which used to be its saving grace. When we go to lunch from work we hit up a Thai place, Chinese buffet, Mediterranean, Indian, shit even a good burger from the local pubs all end up being around the $10 mark which is what all these places cost to get something decent. So why even go to eat that swill?

Yeah, this is one of the biggest reasons I don't eat much fast food anymore. It's always been pretty shitty in terms of quality/taste, but at least in the past it was quite a bit less expensive which made it a worthwhile tradeoff. Nowadays I can go to a "nicer" place, like a deli or local sub shop and get freshly made sandwiches with higher quality ingredients for the same price as shit at McD's or Burger King or whereever.

Fast Food needs to stop trying to rise above its station, damnit.

One of my biggest beefs with fast food nowadays. Ethnic cuisine is far more delicious and not even much more expensive. My meal at a typical Thai or Indian restaurant is less than $10. I find Subway to be one of the only national fast food restaurants chains worth a damn. The $5 footlong is still a monster deal.

I was traveling through el paso and stopped by a place called chico's tacos. They got like 4 or 5 fast food places only in el paso.

The food wasn't spectacular but people there seem to really enjoy it. The green chili sauce they have is decent. I'm surprised they don't bottle that and sell it.

The bad part is that subway only has like 2 or 3 subs that are $5 anymore. I went there the other day and a subway club plus chips and a drink was like $11. Fucking hell. The monthly deal is now a $6 footlong

The meatball is pure garbage. And I love meatball subs. But I still have love for the Cold Cut Combo, and it will take care of me for lunch. At work we have a Subway that is stupid close, and then everything else is about 1-2 miles away. It's a convenience factor really, it's Subway or a 7-11 1/4lb big bite.

But yes, they have to fucking business charging for what they sell. A couple of times I've seen a commercial for a new sub of theirs and went in thinking "this one is going to be different" then watching them dump cold ass chicken out of a little paper bowl and then nuke it. That Chicken Pizziola Melt I saw a commercial for and thought it was delicious looking, then they made it front of me I was immediately regretting it and heard my wallet call me a stupid asshole.

Subway is also one of the very few options around one of my offices. I tried the Chicken Pizziola Melt and regretted it immediately as well. That thing sucked. I'm sticking to my tried and true Spicy Italian from now on.

I've come to absolutely loathe Subway. I'd rather pay a couple extra bucks for Jimmy Johns, Potbelly, Jersey Mike's, or anything really. I'm lucky to have a couple really good non-chain sandwich shops near my work and house so I can generally avoid the chains but Subway it just the worst.

It is depressing to walk in there and see meat and stuff that's been out for hours, chicken in little pre-sized trays and shit. I hate Subway. I don't know how anyone could put it above McDonalds/BK/etc.. it's all the same.

Honestly, Jimmy Johns is cheaper than Subway. Even Jimmy Johns Gargantuan sandwhich, their biggest sandwhich, is cheaper than a Subway Club anymore(club is like $8.50), and it's way better with a lot more meat. Quiznos is actually cheaper now too. I can get a large cheesesteak or chicken carbonara at Quiznos for $8, and its a hell of a lot better than anything at Subway. Even a shitty tuna sandwhich at subway is like $6.50, as is a meatball I believe.

I miss my college days when we had a subway attached to our dorm that stayed open until 1am, and footlong meatball sandwhiches were $2.99. Ate way too many of those. Of course that was also 15 years ago.

For national chain sandwhich places, in order of preference:
1)Schlotzsky's
2)Jimmy Johns
3)Quiznos
4)Subway

This post didn't end like I thought it would. Stopping at a place called chico's tacos in el paso sounds like the beginning of a hilarious diarrhea story.

Disappointing.

I miss having Potbelly around. We don't have them here on the west coast.

Not a fan of Quizno's but I haven't been there in years so maybe it's better now.

Potbelly is my clear favorite. Jersey Mike's and Jimmy John's are equal in my mind, it depends on what I have a taste for... I think the Roast Beef is better at JM but the Italian is better at JJ, for example.

All the Quiznos around here closed within the last 5 years or so. They do hold a special place in my heart for introducing me to Miss Vicki's Jalapeno Chips.
