I had Wendy's newish Bacon and Blue on Brioche. It is delightful, and had a ton of blue cheese flavor which is something I love. I also appreciate the fact that they didn't ruin it by smothering it in mushrooms, which fast food places seem to enjoy doing to their "fancy" burgers.

I pulled a McCheese the other day. I ate probably an entire pizza from Valentino's, which is fucking ginormous. And about 10 garlic parm wings, several sodas, 2 cupcakes (MAPLE BACON YO), and a few drinks on top of that. I was fucked up for days afterward, which may or may not have been norovirus. Like for the first time in my life I felt lightheaded like I was going to possibly pass out, this was a couple of days after being sick. Shit made me think about changing my life.

I don't go too nuts with fast food and such - although has been ramping up due to being more social IRL - but got my own wake up call a couple days ago, getting cholesterol warnings from my doc and weighing in just shy of 150 (keep in mind I'm 5'2" - that's the beginnings of being fat)...

Actually watching food labels is going to be such a change for me - and probably going to force a bit of change - so much stuff I'd expect to have cholesterol doesn't and other stuff has a ton. (Holy shit, my beloved quick breakfast items of a Jimmy Dean B-fast sandwich.... like 80mg of the 300 for a day and they're tiny...)

I just had a standard Steak and Shake burger. Are they always so salty? I don't remember that, but it was crazy salty.
You out of town right now? I thought you were up in Maryland?

And depends on the burger - the Garlic ones absolutely are, otherwise sounds like a fluke, probably dude was salting fries nearby carelessly or something.

IN MY OPINION (please note that I'm not a doctor) and from the research I have done while having high cholesterol of my own, eating foods containing cholesterol has almost no bearing on your cholesterol levels. My doctor is a firm believer in that as well, but there is a decent amount of research on the subject as well as plenty of anecdotal evidence. The body itself makes vastly more than will ever be absorbed into your bloodstream via digestion. However, obviously I recommend you discuss anything like that with your doctor and discover what works best for you, but at least be open to the possibility. I have seen significantly better results with watching the amount of sugars/starches etc. than I ever did watching cholesterol intake. YMMV of course, I'm just an idiot on a message board, your health is more important than my opinion, etc.

Second opinions are always a good thing, I appreciate it - still waiting for my mom to respond to my email with any advice (she was an RN in her working years) - would certainly make life easier not micromanaging it.

I was reading somewhere that your body adjusts to how much cholesterol you eat and produces less when you eat more, making typical cholesterol consumption zero sum. I imagine there is a ceiling on that, but I have no first hand education on the subject. OTOH, everything on sugar I've read is bad. It seems like more sources are claiming carbohydrates are a significant problem for americans. I've also read various claims that if you're not consuming fat your body will be less willing to burn fat, so going super lean can also be a problem for sedentary people seeking to shed fat.

I've personally been targeting reducing my sugar consumption and seeing improvements, but it could just be that I'm paying attention now where I never did when I was younger. On the topic of fast food this just translates to not getting fries and soda. I still chomp down plenty of burgers.
