The Fast Food Thread

After starting my lifestyle change I just don't want fast food because it tastes like crap mostly and its hardly filling. McDonalds and Taco Bell made me feel ill the last times I had them; was just on a long road trip so we stopped at wendy's, got nuggets and fries and immediately regretted eating the fries, my tongue was numb after there was so much salt on them. So it wasn't so much the working out, it was just the knowing what nutritional food tastes like. Working out does make turning that doughnut down easier though. Thinking you'd have to ride a bike 2 hours to burn off that one doughnut makes the choice a lot easier.
you have a mental block with fast food.

It is scientifically unavoidably good tasting.

I'm sure like many here, I (and wife) eat healthy 5 out 7 days of the week. On our cheat day, we'll get a fucking 5 guys burger, fries, stop by Mcdees, grab some nuggets, more fries, cuz it just tastes good.

If you really don't find fast food tasting good, you're just fucked in the head, you're "thinking" it's so bad for you, you mentally vomit it up with your repressed feelings of guilt.

atm, currently cooking up a nice 3oz/6oz slab of sous vide steak, so it's not like we're eating like rabbits and having salad all day.

Do any of you fast food nutritionists have any comments on diet pop? I tend to drink 2-3 cans of diet pop a day, but I heard that it is supposed to mess up your bodies response to calories because it's sweet? Tell me that it's bullshit so I can feel good again.
It's bullshit. Drink diet, lose weight.

Had two spicy chicken sandwiches from Wendy's today and they were terribad. Not sure what happened to that location but pretty sure the only correct action is to burn it to the ground.

Doesn't diet Sodas have aspartame in them now? You might be doing more harm to yourself then drinking regular soda.
They all have their downsides in terms of ingredients. Moderation is still anyone's best bet.

Personally, I have soda like 2-4 times a month, so I don't bother with diet.

I stopped drinking diet soda because who the fuck knows. They release on study that says one thing funded by X people, another says something different funded by Y people. At the end of the day they're experimenting on us bros.

Regular soda tastes better anyway. They sell Big Red at the Cracker Barrel near me, if you can wade through the hicks to get it. Shit is so good.

Aspartame is the most tested food additive ever. Every actual serious test has shown it to be perfectly safe. Diet pop is fine.

Is diet soda bad for you? - | Examine.com FAQ | Examine.com

Look at the wording to every one of the negative studies. "May, linked to, correlation". All shit, not one study showing an actual scientific link.

Shit's stupid. People who panic about diet pop "tricking" your system and making you fatter are the same dipshits who share every link they come across on facebook about some stupid holistic bullshit. Switch from normal to diet and make zero other changes and you will lose weight. You won't get cancer, you won't have a heart attack, you won't get diabetes. You will take in fewer calories. That's it. Take care of your teeth like you should either way and enjoy the benefit of being healthier with no effort.

I'm pretty sure it's safe, as sure as I am about any of the shit we eat. I am lss sure they understand how it impacts your body chemistry/brain function/insulin whogivesafuck/whatever. They don't even understand very well how normal food functions to that degree, so it makes sense when you hear a study that says "drinking diet soda correlates to weight gain, we think X is the reason why" because really it isn't something that is well understood. And there is a multi-billion dollar industry vested in keeping things status quo rather than investigating and finding out some uncomfortable truths.

Of course you could probably say the same thing about anything. Red meat, tea, coffee, who knows. diet soda just stands out because it is straight up fake shit we made in a lab and feed to people, and the concept of that is unsettling even in the modern day of unlimited pizza rolls, ipads, an cornucopias of sauces.

It's not quite bullshit, but what is bullshit is thinking that regular soda is somehow better. It's not, that much sugar is much worse than diet coke's manufactured cravings.

Fuck soda either way, but then again I'm a hypocrit drinking Rockstar, or now that a murphys is next door to work, their pleasing "blue" house brand is nice. I've worried a bit about the no calorie stuff, since who knows who to believe. Aside from being way more expensive, I do try to shy away from the ones with 1000% of all kinds of vitamins, taurine, etc.

Really miss the Rockstar 2x, tasted like extra tangy mountain dew and at 320mg caffeine actually did it's job of helping me stay awake late nights @ work. Now I'm lucky if a regular + coffee does anything.

I thought that was because your body gets used to caffeine, so it has less effect on you? Just like anything, get used to it? I have a blue (diet) Monster every day in the morning, and on the mornings I'm like naw, I'll just have iced water? I'm sleepy as fuck. So as much as I can slam one at 9pm, and fall asleep by 9:30, it still does something to me in the morning. Not sure why.

The biggest rush I've had lately was after drinking diet for quite a while, I cheated and had a frosty can of Mountain Dew, and damn was I flying! I think the sugar did it more than anything though.

Yeah, I rarely drink soda these days, unlike my youth where I would chug Mtn Dew all day. I tried to have a Mtn. Dew a few months ago, jesus I felt like a 7 year old who had downed a 1lb of sugar, was sooo sweet. Never again.

Right, because the "manufactured cravings" are made up bullshit. Someone said it probably makes your body "think" sweet stuff isn't unhealthy or some bullshit and some other fuckhead said "yeah it makes you produce too much insulin!". Then someone did an actual study and carbonated water made your body produce the same amount(statistically insignificant difference) of insulin with zero sweetener.

So basically BUBBLES IS DE DEBIL! They gives you the alzheimerbetecancermetabolicsyndomaids!!!!!

There's been more studies and science on aspartame than the chemicals in most of the food we're all discussing and loving in this thread. Switch to diet, lose weight by doing nothing else. Or go full McCheese and do the thread proud by maximizing those saved calories to get an extra order of nuggets.

Aspartame isn't an issue, it becomes an issue once you go full fledge ZERO sugar.

if for some reason your diet consists of 4 liters of diet soda a day(many ppl think hey it's diet soda, so i can drink as much of it as i want, idiots), then yea that's an issue. Along with all ther other "sources" of aspartame, (anything sugarfree will have aspartame) your just adding more and more aspartame to your daily intake, heres a list:
1. Diet Soda- It is found is almost all diet soda's. Avoid these.
2. Flavored Water - Many of the "No-calorie" flavored waters contain it.
3. Drink Powders - Crystal light, among others are loaded with it.
4. Cooking sauces - many low calorie cooking sauces contain aspartame.
5. Children's medicine - it is used to artificially sweeten kids medicine such as cough medicine and fever reducer.
6. Breakfast Cereals - some common breakfast cereals contain aspartame.
7. Yogurts - sugar free yogurt often contain it.
8. Chewing gum - very common, always check the packaging
9. Tabletop sweeteners - spenda, etc.
10. Most all "sugar-free" products use aspartame as artificial sweetener.

So basically go all fat!, i mean who the hell uses margarine anymore? butter all the way. (of course soda that uses HFCS, still issues there, if you want real sugar coke, buy it in bottle form from a mexican grocer, or since passover is coming up now, that's sugar too, not HFCS)
