It might have been said but I think the real problem with diet soda is it tricks your body into an insulin response thinking that it has ingested glucose when in fact it has not, contributing to higher insulin resistance (DIABETES)
Just because it it tastes like a sugar doesn't mean it is structurally similar and initiates the same biochemical pathways in cells.

Can't toss a blanket statement, because different brands, and even different flavors in those brands are all very different I feel.

Although, to be honest, I agree that all the Mio ones suck ass. However Crystal Light ones have all been pretty dang good. Kool-Aid ones were pretty terrible. Not sure how they could mess up what they are known for. After finding some fav flavs from Crystal Light I've just stuck with those.
different brands use different sweetners.

crystal light uses aspartame

mio/kool-aid (both are kraft products) uses sucralose(splenda)

so really you like aspartame and don't like sucralose.

Here's a good tip to follow. Any time some "expert" tells you something "tricks" your body, write them off. Think about that for a second. Let's go through all the things people say your body gets tricked by:

Muscle confusion

Actually let's just stop the list right there. I rest my case.

The only thing my body has ever been tricked by is yoga pants on a 30+ year old woman. What a disappointing boner.

I'm the opposite, I can't stomach the crystal light drops at all, they taste like ass in my opinion...while I like the majority of the mio ones. Except for mio energy , I don't care for those.

So my sister bought me a 5lb bag of Sour Patch Kids.. I found out my limit is at about 1lb, before my stomach says fuck you.

Went to Taco Bell last night and my girlfriend got the same thing she always does: two soft tacos and a bag of cinnatwists. She commented that one of the soft tacos looked way, way greasier than they usually do, to the point that the wrapper was kind of soggy. Anyway, within an hour of eating she was hovering over the toilet and I was making a late night run to the pharmacy for some Pepto-bismol and ginger ale. I don't think we'll be eating Taco Bell for a while, which is a shame because I really do enjoy quesaritos.
