Great film. Loved the visuals. Interesting to see in that article that Luc Besson wished it had been made later for even better visuals. I think it would have been worse, as in SW Prequels worse. But then I do love oldish effects.

This is top 5 for me easily, movie is nearly perfect. Right up there with Madmax: Fury Road, Chronicles of Riddick, Braveheart, Terminator 2, and Dredd. All for their own reasons, sure there is some weak points you can pick at but sum of its parts makes for some of the best cinema ever.

I always found one of the most interesting aspects of the movie that Bruce Willis and Gary Oldman never meet or ever really know what the other person is doing.

They aren't even aware of each other's existence IIRC. Can't think of any other movie that's done that with the hero and villain.

The opera scene was astounding visually in the cinema, it never quite translates to the smaller screen.

Writing around Leeloo gets a bit hamfisted sometimes (the scene where she watches all the "bad history" never ceases to make my eyes roll) but these are minor blemishes on an otherwise excellent film.

Ackshullyy. Korben Dallas drove a hover cab and Zorg sent the order which laid all the cabbies off. so if you really wanted to be technical. Dallas would know who Zorg was, maybe just not the other way around or that he was his enemy.

Zorg really isn't even the antagonist. The "absolute evil" is. Dallas isn't really the protagonist, that's the Priest. Dallas and Zorg are set pieces getting moved around. The unsuspecting hero and the messenger.

If Zorg hadn't had Leeloo's ship blown up, she never would have tried to escape and fall into Dallas's cab. A lot of good/bad luck scenarios. Like having one match left at the end.

Mr. Kim : You got a message.
Korben Dallas : Yeah
Mr. Kim : You're not gonna open it? It might be important.
Korben Dallas : Yeah, like the last two I got were important. The first one was from my wife, telling me she was leaving. The second was from my lawyer, telling me he was leaving... with my wife.
Mr. Kim : Ah, that's bad luck. Grandfather say it not rain everyday. This is good news, guaranteed. I bet your lunch.
Korben Dallas : Okay, you're on.
Mr. Kim : Come on...
[Reads]
Mr. Kim : You are fired. Oh.
Korben Dallas : Well, at least I won lunch.
Mr. Kim : Good philosophy, see good in bad, I like.

I love this movie more each time I watch it but without a doubt Gary Oldman makes this movie.

That's why I was careful and said that they "...never meet or ever really know what the other person is doing."

Because I know we're all a bunch of pedantic fucktards!

Interesting to note how this movie is so rembered, but the preceeding movies and the sequel are never talked about.

What are they called? when did they come out? is it the same director?
And I hope you not talking about that 1000 planet crapfest this director did

The First Element, the Second Element, The Third Element, The Fourth Element, and the 6th Element.

I'm still trying to find Apollos 1-12.
