Yea Hayao is basically the GOAT, no one else is even close with a character with such lopsided matchups like Hugo.

Hayao was great, this entire evo was a lot of fun to watch outside of tekken because tekken is dog shit as a spectator game
curious if going for 4 evo locations in a year is going to work lol

Happy for Punk, he came so close in 2017 and was the favorite in every way, but just not mature enough for that spotlight. I didn't realize but with his win its (according to what I could find), its the first time the US has won a current generation SF game at EVO? And the first time since 2010 for any SF game at EVO? Seems crazy.

i zonked out after Momochi was out. Figured punk had it on lock and didn't care about the rest of the top 3 folks. Good for him winning tho.
ST was nice. John Choi doing work with Ryu as usual.
SF3 as noted was really good. Having Justin commentate was a good get.
MVC3 was weird- appreciated the screwball teams.
Watched a good chunk of BB and Granblue

Smash is a kids game so no.

lol no it's not. Smash is a game for all ages. Smash Ultimate is actually an extremely complex game to master, and I'm far from elite levels. Tons of people in their 30's who played the n64 original when they were kids still play Ultimate to this day.

I know you BB boys think this is a gaming forum but it's not. It's a shitposting forum.

My 6 year old gets to play for 30 minutes before dinner IF he gets all good check marks from his 1st grade teacher. Do your parents have similar rules?

For me I just always find myself going back to the Street Fighter 3 games and Alpha series as well as Tekken Tag 2, Tekken 5/6 and 8, DOA 2-6, Virtua Fighter 4/5 and Soul Calibur 1 and 2 for my go-to and classics. IMO those are the best time tested fighting games.

Never been a real fan of Mortal Kombat, but I did enjoy playing 4 as well as MK2011 and X. MK11 wasn't that bad but fuck the new one. Street Fighter 4 can be fun but I got the new one and I am honestly not really a fan of it, it's more of a complete game than 5 but still not really feelin it. Didn't like Tekken 7 but Tekken 8 has been the biggest fighting game hit for me this generation. I still play some occasional KOF as well, that series has never been my #1, seems like it's always been my solid #2 2D fighting franchise after Street Fighter. I guess after that I'd get into Guilty Gear and Blazblue, same thing in a sense, but I have always been partial to GG as it's longer running and I enjoy the older ones the best. Once I get past that things seem to get more obscure and cultish, but DB Fighterz is probably the last real mainstream fighting game I am into as well as Smash, but only really liked playing Smash locally with friends. I guess I can throw Injustice in there as well. If anyone's played the Deadliest Warrior games, that's a more cultish series I enjoy, Hellish Quart has been a Steamdeck/PC favorite of mine and that's pretty similar.

It's funny, I didn't think I was really into fighting games anymore, but after typing this all out I realized how much I must still enjoy them. I just don't care for the online competitive scene, too sweaty for me, I just like to kick back and enjoy this stuff.

Frosty Faustings this weekend. Evo games got announced last week. Expect plenty of glorious MVC2 for the year.

Is there any good way to play the King of Fighters series? Some obscure collection out there, or on the way, or something? It appears that the 15+ games are spread across all kinds of systems. Even with emulation I wouldn't even know where to start in assembling the whole damn thing.

If you just want to play good iterations then KoF 2002 and KoF XV are all you need.

If you're just trying to catch them all then prolly mame roms would hit most.

Yeah want to try em all in order and see how they evolved, like I did with MK and SF a while back. Doesn't take long with fighters and it's pretty cool.

Fightcade

This looks interesting, it basically an arcade emulator with online play?
