Read up on this a little, and as best anyone can tell, there isn't anything missable. If you wanna do all the quests, though, I definitely wouldn't save 'em all til the end. My one problem with this game is the quest flow is like WoW circa 2004 - random fetch quests, strewn about random places, followed by more fetch quests, strewn about more random places, and all from one giver that you have to keep coming back to. You'd burn out fast if you tried to do them all at the end.
But as long as by your own pace you just mean you'll try to keep up with quests as you go, I don't think you need to worry about anything permanently missable.
Good to know there's nothing missable although I wouldn't recommend trying to get everything on your first playthrough. There's bound to be some shit that's hard to find and searching for help is like wading through a minefield of spoilers.
This game has New Game+ so I'm probably going to derp through it on easy on the first play for the story etc, then do a full completionist run on normal/hard after that.
So the movie was pretty good (would be a pretty bad stand alone movie since it doesn't really have an ending) right up until after the credits with the fucking k-pop boy band that is the main cast

When do the hitches start? I'm almost on Chapter 4 and have not noticed a single hitch on the old PS4 (non-pro). I've been told pro hitches/slows a lot more often.
Idk man maybe you are blind to it like people that can't tell the difference between 60hz and 120hz but the game hitches very often for me. Doesn't matter where you are in the game. I am chapter 4 and it's been happening since the start.
Could be the psvr unit, maybe I'll try tomorrow without it, but extra processing shouldn't be the cause of lag.
My ps4 is the white destiny bundle from a couple of years ago.
I'll try to pay closer attention, but I seriously haven't noticed it, but I'm playing on a projector on a 140" screen so I'm pretty sure I'd notice it.
I am not even someone that usually complains about fps but I just don't want people buying this game thinking they are going to get 1080p30/60 locked in because it isn't.

I have the PS Pro. It does seem to "hitch" a lot on high, because it misses frames and such (not a tech geek). The video I linked in the console thread explains it. While the regular PS4 version (called "Light" version on Pro) is steady, the High version hitches by having a number that says 30, but it drops frames more often which makes it seem like it stutters.
I am playing on High 4k and the FPS ranges can vary quite a bit acting like an unoptimized PC port. Especially with broadsword hitting multiple enemies at once. On light, everything was smooth with me, but the image quality boost from light, to High with HDR is substantial enough for me to never go back to light. Graphically, this game on High + HDR is better than Uncharted 4. A bit of tree/clutter popins, but the draw distance on mobs is crazy.
As to the game, played it for 8 hours and just progressed past the part where you go to the docks for the first time. I've spent an hour fishing, done all quests and hunts that I have found, and tried to explore all areas.
Pro tip for exp: When at the docks, the end of the main quest line there will trigger a free stay at the Inn at the docks which cost 10000 gil normally (Gives 2x exp). You will be prompted by a message if you are sure you wish to continue which you can decline before resting.
At that point, do all remaining quests, hunts, grind for a big boost of exp. Highly recommend at least going to the area with the little random rare cacataur and killing it. Gives 5k exp. If you eat a food with exp bonus, kill the cacataur and rest at the inn, you will gain 10 levels. I just finished that main quest, which is level 3, I am now level 22.
pro tip 2: Not sure if this was posted before, but if you turn on the stamina bar, while running, press L3 again just as the bar goes under the letter S on the bar, it will instantly refill. Unlimited running. Can also do it without the stamina bar, pressing exactly as Noctis switches animations from running to being slow/staggered. Harder to pay attention to the trigger point, but more immersive without the stamina bar.
Not seen a hitch here either and similarly using a launch day PS4.
Game certainly has an Entourage feel to it, but adapting the Warriors of Light motif to a world with CD players and smart phones I suppose that is natural. Not overly wild about the magic system as it feels weird making magic grenades all the time, especially as the dudebros suffer from friendly fire and there is a global 30 second cooldown on spells even if you have two equipped.
Overall it feels much more like Grand Theft Auto than a traditional Final Fantasy game, but then again that was the point when it was originally conceived as XIII vs.

Agree with that. Don't use magic that often. That said, HIGHLY recommend not selling "treasures" such as the items mob drop even if their description says you can get gil with them. Takes far less treasures than consumables and food to increase the number of spells you get. Around 20 of the sabretooth claws or whatever they are called will give you 10 of a spell instead of the regular 3 as well as boost the main damage. Can grind those claws really fast as well as oneshotting the level two ones with a dagger warp strike which also gives you 1 AP per kill.
Having a hard time holding out starting this - I just know myself too well, if I start it on a week night I'll fall all the way down the rabbit hole and will look up at 5 am covered in fucking queso and beer stains..... But waiting on a game since I was in my 20's has me itching to play. If I can get through tonight without turning it on I should be good (tomorrow night Cowboys/Vikes) - From what I've read, it seems the post game content is just as good/engaging as the main story itself, which surprises me. Also surprised by the positive press/reviews its getting.
Lenas, if you haven't tried this yet, try powering down your PS completely. Unplug it, and plug it back in. Then try playing FF15 again. I have PSVR as well, but I do this regularly when I switch from PSVR to Regular PS4.
A few gripes about the game now that I am deeper into it. I agree the WoW style side quests are ridiculous at times. I get I want recipes for cooking and what not, but the travel in this game is pretty bad even with fast travel because of the load times. Just a lot of Fetch/kill up to this point and I am in Chapter 3 about 9 hours played. I am still trying to understand the weapon drops - not a lot has actually dropped for weapons thus far and I have been buying upgrades at those little shops the deeper I go into the world. I do like the spell crafting system - being able to mix various spell powers with potions as well and have a bunch of cool effects is pretty sweet.
The travel in the car is just plain tedious. I always set it to auto but if you have not been to a place before you are sitting their picking your ass for sometimes 3-4 minutes as you wait to arrive to where you want to go. Am I missing something in that I can fast travel to the places I haven't been too before to mitigate this? Or after chapter 1 does manual driving allow me to drive much faster than auto? I have Chocobos unlocked and tried going cross country. Which was not faster. In fact the two times I did it not only was it not faster one time, I couldn't even get to the place I wanted to go without going on a winding uphill road anyway. So it was pointless. I am guessing Chochobos are just meant to get to your quest area, not a quest hub/city itself.
Some of the mob placement pisses me off as well. I am level 22-23 now or so, and while it didn't impact me much, I was wondering why I am tasked with killing a level 25 Mob after killing the 5 pack of level 11 target quest mobs for a level 11 Ingredient finding quest for a cook at a diner. Maybe because it turned dark and I was jumped by a larger level mob and that just happened to be a coincidence?
I was also on a side quest and was continually battling Nilfgaard NPC's coming out of the sky on the way to the quest point. In less than .32 miles I dealt with 5 drops of 10 along with whatever else happened to be in the area. I am guessing you can hide from these? They are low level but they come out in packs of 10 and all I wanted to do was get to my destination (This quest happened to be collecting Red Frogs which was a pain in the ass because it took me 5 minutes in the little circle to find them). But the game has so many deep systems that I do not want to fluff that off as shit design until I know for sure because there may be (And very likely are) mechanics or strats I am missing.
Aside from that, the camera issues are the only thing hampering combat (Which I love). It's frantic, but hard to warp to specific points and target mobs I want to target.
The world itself is gorgeous, but the geometry sometimes pisses me off. I was in a dungeon behind a waterfall and I missed a SMALL area where I was meant to go (Basically triggering a QTE one button press so I slide against the path with my back to the wall) and I fell down a 3 foot dip. Rather than just be able to jump up back to the platform, I had to move around the entire ducking dungeon again just to get back to that same spot, and with it, kill the mobs I already killed on the way.
Aside from a few annoyances though, it's still a great game. The story has me very intrigued and I have just hit a part in chapter 3 where
I am wondering if an evil character is good or not (Possible twist) but I am not sure yet because I had to save and go to bed. I'll find out tonight
Also, "I think we should go to this town and talk to my sister". After I had already done it. "Dude, we already talked to your sister you scatterbrained idiot" but worse, it kept popping up a conversation option to say "Yeah let's do that". I already talked to that chick 3 in game days before....
Anyone get their codes from the road trip DLC from the Amazon Pre-Order bonus? I hit redeem DLC and says codes have been sent to my e-mail and this was last night and nothing yet.I know weapons will get replaced but wasnt there a story DLC included with it?
Did you use a yahoo address? If so, that email is never going to arrive. I've contacted SQEX support but who the fuck knows when they will fix it. I changed my email to one of my gmail accounts but since the website won't allow you to resend the codes email that doesn't really help. About the only other thing you can try to do is convince Amazon that your 16 digit code didn't work and have them give you a new one, which you can link to a gmail or hotmail account and redo the stupid minigames and then get the codes sent properly. I had no success with this last night, but I might try again with a different Amazon rep this morning.
The movie. It adds a whole new dynamic when going through the story. Due to me watching the movie I am at a "Ok Wtf" moment right now and I haven't even started the mission yet. It is perplexing me a bit But this only happens because I watched the movie. I would also have no F'ing clue what is going on right now had I not watched it. The movie by itself if mediocre, but it sets up the story and characters which have an impact on in game story telling so, since I love story telling, it was right up my alley to understand what the world is all about and when I see certain characters, I know why and where they came from.
Utnayan (and others), I think you've done this but.. protip: Even though the car is tedius (though I actually like it but YMMV) one of the first things you should buy on the Ascencion grid under exploration is to gain AP while on long chocobo rides, fishing, and long car rides. You will get about 1 AP per minute of car driving/bird riding, and 1 AP *per fish* you catch.
Also, car driving WITHOUT fast travel is recommended *if you want to experience absolutely everything*. There's some good character development there, and additionally, there are some quests that can appear/happen/occur in the middle of fast travel. Once I got the.....
Aero wax to lower my gas usage
....I purposefully go on a 5-8 minute car ride if I have to run downstairs or go to the shitter and gain AP during it.
The EXP one is nice too, but its very little EXP for the cost (10 Exp per 30-45ish seconds).
