Again I don't blame him, his farm show is a big success too. I don't blame any of them. They all earned a nice retirement. I selfishly don't want it to be over though.
they could just put out specials every few years. it doesnt have to push them to their physical limits. just have them traveling together getting into funny mishaps with their cars. i felt those stupid boats they made in that shitwater river at the end of the final episode was unnecessary.

It's going to be damn near impossible to replace Jezzer, Hamster and Captain Slow. First of all you need 3 funny people. They need to already know each other for years and most important, none of them can be too fucking cool for school. They have to look like dorks, act like dorks and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and fuck up. There are three guys on YouTube who somewhat fit that bill. They do cheap car challenges too. But I think they are too young and coming from YouTube, they aren't very famous. But those guys know the formula.

Need to put those Bezos Bucks to use and send the boys to the moon
"We've taken three cybertrucks and modified them to be lunar buggies..... Here you can see where Hammond is doing donuts while Jeremy is the first man in history to draw a penis on the moon with tire treads. Meanwhile, James May is looking at some rocks."

(And I would pay money to watch that...)

Just watched the first episode. You guys really think these three do all the driving on the track like they make it out to be? I’m a bit skeptical..

When you say "the first episode", do you mean first ep of Grand Tour, or first ep of Top Gear (which was the series before they did Grand Tour). You can go back and tell they're definitely driving. In fact one of the things that made them famous was when Hammond had a wreck back enough he literally suffered permanent brain damage from it and became known for wrecking cars at high speeds...

Now, there may be some staged things. But even Clarkson openly admitted one of the big reasons they were calling it quits was that he was too big and old to drive the cars he wanted to drive (can't fit in), and doesn't want to drive cars he doesn't like. Plus James May suffered a real back injury a couple specials back... Hammond is the youngest between the three and he's in my age bracket (mid 50's).

On the other topic. Hammond says that Amazon plans to try to keep the series going in some form with some new guys. We've seen how that worked out for the BBC trying to replace them. They're going to have to thread a hell of a needle casting that one. If I were in their ears I would be telling them "Keep the old crew on a retainer, and have them effectively take the place of "Mr Producer" in giving new people challenges and directions."

To answer your first question, you don't have to love cars, but you need to be able to appreciate great cars and the experience of driving. If you're not a person who can appreciate a long road trip through gorgeous countryside, then this will end up not being your cup of tea. They just have "wacky hijinks" along the way.

The grand tour. I will say the countryside drives are great. I can appreciate the cars. Just kinda bores me on the track. Love the countryside scenery and drives. I’ll keep watching

Nah. My interest in cars sits slightly above 'nonexistent', and I still love the show. Setting aside the cars, the rest of the show is them traveling the world and getting into shenanigans, which turns out to be great fun.

For the fans here I’m curious - do you have a favorite of the three?
I find Clarkson the most purely entertaining....
Apparently I drive like Hammond...
And apparently I have the most in common with May.

If you're into tinkering and restoration of old things for instance... James May had a series of Youtube videos where literally he would disassemble old things (like model trains) that were broken and refurbish/restore them. And that hit right in my tinkering wheelhouse.

They really should have started recasting years ago,
Bring in a new guy for a season or 2, Have one of the big 3 retire after that
New guy is already there with the established chemistry and history....
Rinse and repeat

Also, I do really miss The Stig and all of his "cousins"

I feel this. Grand Tour/Top Gear has become family time in my house. Even my wife who cared nothing about cars has come to love "The Boys" as she calls them.
Just watch some older top gear to keep it going. it was like 26 seasons with them.
