A lot of leaders people idolize aren’t physically strong either. Yes, physical strength can be a good attribute if you lead by that attribute alone, but that type of power structure is too easily challenged…especially if you get older.
Boiled down, a good leader is one who can convince others to do something and is able to successfully complete objectives (either through themselves, or supporters) that benefits the tribe/people as a whole.
The episode does call into question her credentials based on killing a valuable resource, but we would have to presume at least up to that point, she was doing something right. One thing that is clear is the hunters all feel collectively wronged by the prior regime and she is effectively using that hatred to get them riled up. That sort of motivation will disappear when they can’t find any more boogeymen, at which point they would manufacture new boogeymen, but their whole situation came across as a group that wouldn’t last too long in the scheme of things
