Show has great Ship porn. I tune in for that and rockets that have zero splash damage.

Since this started, I've consistently watched this show before I ever get around to Falling Skies. I mean, I've always been a fan of "armed forces" centered shows/movies, but you'd think I'd be more excited every week to see freaking aliens. But Falling Skies has just kind of gotten stale and it is barely about aliens at all anymore. At least if there is boring drama on The Last Ship I still get awesome panoramic shots of the ship every few minutes.
I can tell you probably 3 things that happened in 3 episodes of Falling Skies the past 3 weeks and I watched it after Last Ship each time. It's so grey and basically repeating itself over and over that I lose interest and go back to browsing the web or other shit while it is on.

This week we also get the premier of The Strain on Fx so my DVD is going to be busting some nuts on Sunday now between TLS, TS, Naked and Afraid and other shows.

I like this show. It's a little over the top, but so are a lot of shows.

It would make a really cool Star Trek if they put it in space.

Damn fine acting in places and you need it with a show like this.

The last episode hooked me in to watch this for a long time. The fact that they had actual issues and had to find solutions was unlike most modern TV.

Anyone else think they were going to do something hokey like the Basketball that went overboard got in the filters?

If it weren't a summer series I probably wouldn't watch it but it's better then reruns of Law and Order.

They was looking for help, are you saying they should have mowed them down or fired randomly to draw even more people at them?

This obviously was renewed but with 13 episodes for next season. #1 again this week. I guess I need a new drinking game. I don't recall anything exploding this past episode.

This most recent episode reminded me of an episode of Stargate SG-1 kinda, except drug lords instead of Jaffa and Go'uald.

I like how they went from "get surrounded by armed men who execute a perfect ambush" to Rambo'ing in breaking necks with no weapons and take over the whole camp. If they were so aware of surroundings and able to move quietly how did they fucking get surrounded and ambushed in the first place?

Meh, I can believe it. They didn't know there was a camp up ahead and it had 14 ex drug lords with guns setting traps who were used to evading and ambushing people all their life. They expected at worse some crazy people near death.
The trap the red shirt stepped in distracted them enough for the ex rebel coconut leader thugs to make a move and win the situation.

Saw similar stuff earlier this year on Disco where a special forces/well trained military man/seals do this in various countries ( it was training where a army would have to track and capture and the dude would have to counter and evade ), traps are not made usually to kill people but to slow them down, distract or redirect. They wasn't prepared for it. Likewise at the end they used the same principle against the rebels. Injured man, been gone for hours, got the monkeys they came for. The rebels let their guard down and whammy.

Didn't they also shoot the flare off near that camp alerting the drug lords to their presence. When they went all seal team 6 they didn't alert them.

Yes, I remember the leader saying they saw it, so yup that as well.

Really overall the writing on this series is decent, most of the shit you see can be justified pretty easy.
They must have found the only Hollywood writer not high on opiates.

i'm thinking about jumping ship (was not intended) to this series, after the strain is so far really horrible, thoughts since most are 5 eps in?

Good ship porn, likeable actors and characters, the writing is pretty good, don't find yourself reaching for the fast forward button, explosions!

Worth watching imo. It isn't rated #1 for the summer for being totally bad. Even better to watch on nights nothing else is on. All 5 are on demand and also TNT's website if you log into the site from your provider.

Yeah, I getting a slight SG-1 vibe here for some reason. Nothing at all to do with space and aliens of course, but the close-knit team with superior tech draws that parallel I guess. I like it. Probably my favorite new summer series.

I was surprised that went so obvious with the underage rape theme. It's TNT after all. It's an entertaining show. I'll stick with it for now.

God damn this show sucks. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to take BSG, focus on one random ship, and delete the whole space scifi element is retarded.

I can see where you're coming from. But all the comparisons to Star Trek, SG-1, and BSG those shows were pretty popular. And this show sort of draws from the Jack Bauer/24 crowd too. Not to mention some similarities to The Walking Dead and its survival theme. People who wouldn't watch SF cause they think it's silly might watch this.

I don't know if I'll continue to watch it but I bet the show does well.
