I think the biggest thing said in the last few pages of this thread are that the super hero movie genre as a whole has gotten to the point that not only are they producing crap, they're producing such forgettable crap that many of us have forgotten the crap (i.e. Shang-chi, Eternals, etc...)
In some ways, the success of GotG sort of set this up. At the time, GotG was probably the most obscure comic to film of the modern superhero film era. People had low expectations and thought it would be a bomb. It ended up being wildly successful, mostly in part due to the cast, the writing, and director making a pretty fun "misfit anti-hero" film in the vein of Farscape (Gunn literally made the cast watch Farscape to understand the vibe he was going for).
So GotG ripped off the "obscure comics can't be successful" bandaid and opened the flood gates. Problem is most of the following "obscure comic" films lacked one or more of those elements that helped make GotG successful in spite of its lesser known origins, which in turn diluted the field and accelerated fatigue. Kind of like 3D post Avatar - Avatar did 3D right, and then it was followed by dozens of movies that did 3D wrong.
