Man, all that clip made me do was find this clip

Peak Slayer, fucking fight me. Christ Illusion may have sucked, but live? They were fucking monstrous in this time frame.

Saw them twice that year. Think they stopped touring soon after =/. Didn't listen to much Slayer even though I liked metal but man, their live show was fantastic.

That just makes me sad because concerts used to be a reasonable price. Now who the fuck can afford to go to them anymore?

Getting gabi from bilmuri on the sax is a sick little collab after their tour last year
Really looking forward to the rest of the album

If you were talking 1988 I'd almost agree with you although I think I'd pick Seasons as their best album. Some tough competition in that era though.

Hard to tell peak live era though since US bands don't come over this side of the pacific that often, I think the first time I saw them was in maybe 2001 and they were definitely still crushing it then.
And so I don't leave without sharing some sound here's a couple of very different ones.. First my favourite Slayer song (and album). I love how dissonant the vocals are on this one:

And for something completely different, I love the origin story on this one. A group of Japanese high school girls were obsessed with Maximum the Hormone and wanted to form a cover band but most of them didn't even know how to play instruments. But they did it anyway, picked up instruments, learned to play, played live at school shows and shit, eventually started writing their own songs, and have kept at it for like 8 years or whatever now to the point they're actually a pretty legit band. They toured here a few months back and it was a pretty great show.
