It's pretty obvious where this is heading without a culture change. eventually everything you mail, anything that can be systematically tagged and recorded will be placed in your american file.

You guys are telling me the post office is sorting and keeping track of mail? Why would they do such a thing? Surely they are not doing this so that mail can get to its destination.

Are you talking about the Times Square bombing of 2010, that was actually foiled by people noticing the bombs before they went off? Chalk that one up for the NSA, even though they had no idea about it.
Ironically, the other mass surveillance tool we have to put up with these days (CCTV) also only lead to a wild goosechase and the actual perpetrator was found through Sherlock Holmes style investigation. So the whole use of CCTV was to show in hindsight "look, there he is!" Solid example there, can I have another, please?

The point of permanent surveillance was repeatedly made: Create an environment of constant fear, it is well known people act differently when they know someone is watching them. People are less likely to become politically active, especially when of a different opinion than the ruling powers. People will make sure they have nothing to hide, because if you have nothing to hide, you don't have to be afraid of someone watching you. It shatters the very foundation of democracy, it's fully intend to keep the power in the hands of those who have it now.

So you have no reading comprehension or like making large leaps to a conclusion that has no supporting evidence. Sorry guy, the NSA isn't intercepting storing and analyzing all internet traffic of US citizens.

Like i said I've read them and saw nothing to suggest the NSA is intercepting storing and analyzing all US internet traffic. Again I ask for a citation for where or what you read to come to that conclusion.

I can't see how you can say that, sure you can say your individual hand wasn't held the entire way through the point by point description of what exactly is going on. However to say there is nothing to SUGGEST that they are collecting everything(or a large enough amount currently to worry about the probability of it happening in the immediate near future) I think is a very poor choice of wording.
