Morales is an ass but I'm actually sympathetic to him. But the big issue isn't that they refused flyover rights (happens all the time - e.g. France refused flyover rights to the US for bombing Libya years ago IIRC) but that when they were forced to land in Austria to refuel, the Austrians searched the plane.

Can you imagine the shitstorm if someone tried to search Air Force One? You'd think it'd be understood that the plane is soverign territory.

I heard that south American leaders were trying to find out if there was anything they could do to protest or retaliate as a show of displeasure. Not sure what they could do other than just saying it.
Grant asylum to Snowden. I expect him to show up in Argentina or Boliva.

France refused flyover to the Air Force One?

No?

Not the same situation.

Fair enough. I agree it was bullshit to refuse flyover for Morales' plane, I was just pointing out that the US has been refused flyover for some of its planes before as well but never, ever have I heard of a the plane of the President of a nation being forced to land and then searched.

Pretty shitty thing to do to a president of any country. Not sure we made many friends with that move and only reinforced our image of being spoiled brats.

I can't believe the NSA lets low level employees have access to their entire organization. Even the stupid phone company has information clearance levels.
Their mismanagement is the scariest thing about this imo. Are our guys that stupid?

They don't, Snowden fabricated keys to get access to information he wasn't allowed. Which is why they call him a hacker in the media.

Well he worked for a private contractor, Booz Allen Hamilton, who I would hope is catching mad shit from the NSA right now.

I'm sure whatever contract he was on is going to be annihilated. All those contractors will surely lose their jobs, and Booz Allen will probably have some ramifications that go beyond that one contract. But blame seems to have settled on the contracting company that handles clearance investigations and cleared Snowden. Not that I have seen anything that would have disqualified him, but he had limited investigation and given his background there should have been more before adjudication.

I couldn't get a JSC (Johnson Space Center) badge to get their cheap on site lunches and I worked for a major contractor.

It would be extremely difficult to get his firm to request the access, and someone from NSA to approve the access. There's got to be more to the story than just "fabricating keys".

Citation? Last I heard he was a system administrator for BAH which meant he had pretty wide access.

Yes, a much more believable scenario is that anyone at the NSA who has an administrator account can do anything they want on the network and has access to every classified document in existence.

Seems pretty reasonable given how clearances, access, and classification works.

Considering the NSA just massively restriced SysAdmin access, yes.

Certainly more believable then Snowden somehow manufacturing keys to hack the system.

I haven't heard that anywhere except the two places you said it. Even if true bro, did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, they restricted admin access to ensure no one else is able to use their's to fabricate keys and gain access in the same manner? Nah, godlike admin powers is clearly the answer.
