Even if it isn't as funny as i was hoping...yet? I do like the awkwardness and Scott Grimes' character.

So this show isn't anything like I thought it would be...it's actually trying to be a real sci if show which I really appreciate and thus far.

Really enjoying this.

I hope the next episode is all about illegal immigration!

...

I like the show, and the characters, but it FEELS so cheap and cheesy.

Its still network TV. If you're going to watch network television you have to expect that it isn't cable television, ya know?

Show is AAA network TV so far. Keep watching.

I did appreciate the fact that the show was realistic and centuries of ingrained thought weren't instantly wiped away by a (seemingly) convincing argument.

This episode was well done. I guess the SJW critics didn't like it because it took the gender reassignment thing to the extreme. Oh and the girl became a boy. They probably would have loved it if moclins were an all female sepcies.

One thing that concerns me about the union is that according to how they were talking on the ship, the union has no respect for the laws and customs of the member worlds. Seems strange to me. But my wife says the european union is operating the same way (I don't know I don't follow european politics).

It was a very interesting take on that debate that was fair to the views of both sides.

Honestly from what I have seen so far I think if they can find their pacing this could be an excellent show in a season. I think it is taking them a bit to really get honed in but so far the episodes have been better than I expected.

my thoughts exactly... show HAS been better than i thought it might be, a few things are "off" but new show etc.

also this show, shows the disparity between what critics like and what people like.

rotten tomatoes- 89% Viewers score, 20% critic score.

This is about eleventy billion times more serious than I thought it would be. A lot of McFarlane awkward humor which kind of hits, needs a little more massaging. But I do appreciate he's trying make something that is recognizable as 'Trek' and looking at social issues. In his own way.

And holy shit, who would have known that Seth McFarlane had the pull for some of these cameos. Fucking
Liam Neeson this week and Charlize Theron next week
????

Well I guess not too surprising considering his Family Guy history of cameos, but still. Totally unexpected.

He's also already worked with Theron and Neesan, both of them were in A million ways to die in the West.

Good stuff. I also like the continuity they have from episode to episode with subplots and running gags.

So, how many episodes is it gonna take for the gelatinous blob to get some?

Episode 4 was not as good as 3, but this show is heading in the right direction. Its McFarlands love letter to original Trek. Episode 3 accomplished literally everything Discovery will spend its entire run failing at.

Uh, ok. Episode 3 or rather the transgender rights episode was not my cup of tea. This last one, however, was not that bad. Give me more like that and I'd be okay watching it.
