For what it's worth, I saw something very similar (to the video of a UFO dropping small objects and then exploding) a few years ago. There was something shiny and metallic floating over a river and moving around above the tree line, kinda looked teardrop-shaped but it could have been any shape really because I was around 300 feet away from it. No idea how big it was. It was daytime and I don't know if it was dropping anything, but it was hovering, and then it disappeared with a loud bang and there was a cloud of smoke that rolled down the river a bit, probably 30 feet above the surface. Was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. I assumed it was a weird drone that had malfunctioned and blown up. In any case the movement and the whole thing were super-similar to this video making the rounds. I wonder if it was dropping something in the river.
