Family medicine is usually general care/PCP level stuff - I took that to mean an area outside the emergency room

Yea I took it that way too. When they cleared out the ER before patients showed up from the shooting, they said send em to the morgue, family care, or surgery. They wanted every bed in the ER available.

So I'm not really sure where the show goes from here. About a quarter of the way through this one, it felt slow. They really blew their load with that story arc.

I'm also curious if season two ends up being the night shift and we don't see a lot of the same characters. That'd be interesting. Plus, the night time crazies might be interesting to change it up.

They should switch even deeper. Something along the lines of ER meets Night Court.

So season 2 is going to be about 10 months later, and centered around a July 4th weekend. Out in January 2026.

It did feel a bit like last episode was the finale, but there were important things in this episode. Character development, the immanent departure of at least a couple characters, and new relationships developing. I think this was a good season finale. It will be hard to match this quality if they start the series again several months later (which is the plan). The newbies won't be newbies anymore, so the potential for jaded and shitty attitudes is high. I'll be interested to see where they go.

Amazing that you're praising this show and simultaneously disparaging DEI like this show isn't jam packed full of it? Are you stupid?

I mean ER/Hospital staff is generally diverse like that naturally. In fact if anything it's almost the other way with how many white people are in this show.

This thread has plenty of complaints about DEI shit and "white man bad" but sure let's try to flip the script now that it's accepted the show is actually pretty good.

I wasn't suggesting that that kind of stuff isn't in the show. I'm just saying that it's also all over actual healthcare.

This is true. I spent a week in a hospital with my dad last year while he was undergoing cancer treatment. Horrifying.

I came back and told my wife, if I'm ever injured in North Carolina, I don't care how bad it is. You take me to a hospital in some other state. If I die on the way, I die on the way. Holy fucking hell.
