I wasn't paying attention and just read plot summary on Wiki rather than finish it - something about him jacking off to gay porn?

Does anyone else find it suspicious that Ossoi is posting a thread about the power of the dog?

Holy shit is it painful to listen to Benedict Cumberbatch try to speak with an American accent. Why not just make him an immigrant so it wouldn't sound so damn painful.

What do you think he speaks in Dr Strange?

I really liked this movie. I definitely did not see the true end coming at all, but looking back, you can see all the little pieces that fit together. There's a lot of movies that are ponderous and I get to the end and think it was all a waste (The Killing of a Sacred Deer comes to mind -- my god how I despised that film), but this was the opposite of that. It's a slow and subtle story and I'll be honest that for a while I was wondering WTF was the point but it's one of those movies that I feel way better about when it's finished. I appreciate that Phil was not so simply portrayed as a villain as the trailer or beginning might have led me to believe.

I'm just happy they didn't buttfuck at the end. I had a "god fucking damnitt" moment there when they were sharing a joint and talking about buffalo bill keeping young Phil warm.

I think that was part of the success of the film. I bet everyone was thinking that and then you realize, nope, dude just fucking murdered him.

Say what now?

Apparently I wasn't paying attention to shit because I have no idea what you're talking about. I was working in the shop while watching this. I thought Benedict died because he caught rabies from that little rabbit or something?

Lol, wow.

The kid killed him by giving him the diseased hides that he was working on to create the rope. It was 100% intentional. Think back to the beginning of the movie, talking about how a son should protect his mother. Cumberbatch obviously wanted to bang the kid and the kid picked up on that (remember the secret box he found, too) so he gained his trust until he found an opening to end the torment his mother felt. Cumberbatch always overcompensated with machismo because he was gay and there was a big point about how he never wore gloves, which the kid saw on more than one occasion. The doctor at the end expressed such surprise because he said Cumberbatch was always careful to avoid diseased animals (and he also told the kid to always stay away from them, but you see that scene where the kid takes his gloves and dissects a diseased animal). Like I was saying above, when you go back, you see all the little pieces fit together but that first time through you don't see it coming.

Oh My God Wow GIF by CBC

I missed -all- of that. So, Benedict WAS gay in the movie. Ok, now I get why it's on Netflix and nominated.
What does being gay have to do with not wearing gloves?

I feel like I missed so much of that that it's probably not even worth explaining. I was running a saw and a planer for at least 45 minutes of it while I had it playing in the shop, so I never saw/heard anything that made me think he was trying to bang boys until the last 10 or 15 minutes of the movie.

When I turned the movie off last night, I was just thinking it was like The Road or No Country for Old Men. A bunch of flawed people with a few redeemable qualities and a child moving on to adulthood with the weight of experiencing "real life" a tad too early. Lol....

Lol, yeah, you basically didn't watch the movie, haha. Definitely not one you can pay half attention to and not miss stuff.
