What's the benefit exactly? A friend moved across the globe, so we were gifted a litter robot. It takes much longer to cycle than a human, and it's not like scooping the litter is an arduous task.

Smell I would think would be the only benefit really? I cannot attest to that since I do not have one though. It is hard justifying myself putting down $500+ for something that takes a few minutes a day to deal with. I guess it is nice.
