I thought this is what everyone did? The printer industry is all about the margins on ink, not printers. They sell you the printer cheap hoping that you'll refill the ink. It's exactly like a drug dealer giving you the first one free.I have a friend who used to work for HP and they could buy printers for like $35. He would get one, use it until the ink ran out, and then give it to a friend or relative and get another one because it was cheaper than buying ink cartridges.
In this case though, it's not addictive. So you run out of ink, you just buy another printer at the "get you hooked" low price. I haven't bought ink in forever. That may be because I don't print shit at home anymore though. If I need something personal printed (which is generally boarding passes or my car insurance cards), I do it at work.
