Do note that most of those stats are in line with the rates of poverty amongst each group as well however. Once you look at income level equally the difference between races is very slim. [IIRC blacks once you factor in income level are actually UNDERREPRESENTED slightly and Hispanics slightly over - although it's been a while since I ran the math and too lazy to look over the other forum it came up]

While this may happen, to me it only happens if the jury doesn't follow the jury instructions. Unless the state has some blockbuster piece of evidence coming out, not sure you even have enough for manslaughter let alone 2nd degree murder. Whether he deserves it or not is a seperate issue.
Yeah, I have been a juror on a murder trial and they will definitely have the law explained to them at great length. The only way they just decide to "give him something" will be if they just blatantly ignore the law and go rogue, which they aren't likely to do when they were so carefully selected for the job.

It's impossible to tell. I thought the same thing when I was watching Casey Anthony trial and they let that bitch whore walk. I wouldn't be surprised to see Zimmerman get manslaughter from this jury, then win an appeal and walk away a free man, the evidence just isn't there for a murder charge, and for manslaughter it's very iffy, since we have an eye witness saying the guy on the bottom was screaming for help while the guy on top was beating the life out of him. I don't know exactly how the law works, but even if you provoke someone, doesn't give them the right to beat you to death, I would think anyways.
